Sunk Cost Fallacy. They plow all the savings into their Pantaloons.

Hard to look masculine in bespoke orange and blue stripped pantaloons 😁

True.
Well, the Swiss guard are more an honor guard 💂 I don’t think they are running into trenches in defense of the Pope anymore.
Although I think in about 1500, when pantaloons were all the rage, they were fighting and defending the pope.

The Swiss Guard's Papal Armory is one of the coolest armories in the world.

Well, that is mega cool!

The Swiss Guard has very strict requirements to even be in it. It's pretty crazy!

“ New recruits must be unmarried Roman Catholic males with Swiss citizenship, between 19 and 30 years of age, and at least 5 feet 8.5 inches (1.74 meters) tall. In addition, they must have a professional diploma or high school degree and must complete basic training with the Swiss military.”
Thanks, I never knew!

Glad to help! It's a part of the experience of visiting the Vatican and joining a Wednesday Papal General Audience to see the Swiss Guard in action. I was fortunate enough to go there in 2016 during the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Amazing experience.
@Render
All rifles with bayonets mounted + highly proficient with halberds = instantly regret for engaging with this force.

@voltronic @Render @evamarie @stueytheround @Fiikus_goddess @th3j35t3r @daniel @0x56 so we should stop making fun of their pajamas? 🤔😬
@evamarie I'd say the precise opposite. Anyone joining a fighting force, *knowing* that this is the uniform they will be wearing for their entire military career, has balls of titanium and is not to be messed with!
