“Peak boomers” (born 1959-1964) are getting ready to retire and 2/3 do not have enough saved to do so. They hit the work force when pensions were being phased out.
Turns out 401K plans were just another corporate scam.
It’s chilling to hear that this generation, and the ones following are basically saying, “I hope I can work until I die because I don’t want to die in the streets.”

I’ve looked into Spain and Italy, ex-pat wise. I have Finnish citizenship which allows me to live in the EU. However, Putin is talking about going after Finland following the Ukraine, and that scars the sh*t out of me.
If tRump wins, all of Europe is at risk.

@evamarie It will be interesting to watch this play out. I personally know some who do have enough saved, but when asked, are too fearful that it's not enough. Enough to retire is a very subjective viewpoint.

Even the GOP cannot make a law repealing social security retroactive. Once you qualify for benefits, they can’t take that away from you.
They're a massive percentage of the population and this issue as much as abortion is going to destroy the GQP in elections if they keep threatening SS AND don't step up to help people who were scammed into the gift to Wall St and the 1% of 401K "savings accounts" AKA the Wall Street con of lifting all boats... .
Not even Fox can make this crap palatable.
I hope people are smart enough to understand these issues. Sometimes, I look at the polls and just weep.
Part of the problem is that inflation is bringing folks living paycheck to paycheck to their knees. They have no idea that America has weathered post COVID inflation so much better than the rest of the world.
