@MrGoat a life of regrets is a wasted life buddy

😆

Skidmark free speech

So don't believe the hype its illegal and hes paying to get votes for trump

That is a misleading narrative

Musk’s pro-Trump America PAC is offering people $47 if they successfully get one registered swing-state voter to sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments of the Constitution

The payout offer appears to be a way to financially encourage voter registration of individuals who might prefer Republican candidate Donald Trump in swing states. Paying individuals directly to register to vote is illegal, but America PAC’s petition appears to skirt laws

@zenmudprod @Lucky188 his offer is an incentive to get people to sign a petition to protect free speech, gun ownership

Federal law prohibits payments for voter registration or voting in federal election - financial incentives for signing a petition are legal

@zenmudprod @Lucky188

Offered to pay for people to sign campaign groups petition was it not?

Thats not offering to pay for votes

@walterbays agree about algorithm

That said mostly you'll only see they posts in the "for you" tab or via search "trending topics"

Stick to "followers" tab and creating a buncha lists of users that show in your own curated tabs cuts out they posts - granted you might see some when you tap on certain posts via list tabs, followers tab, in replies but mostly you don't - the outrage posts you do mostly have to loom for they can be avoided if you really want or at least minimalist from seeing them

PayPal is updating their Terms of Service to automatically give merchants access to your data starting in November and they've already opted you into it.

The EU has better privacy laws than North America, so if you're there you won't even have these settings.

OPT OUT BEFORE THEY START:

Go to Settings > Data & Privacy > PayPal Shopping and toggle it to off.

Google's new phones can't stop phoning home

pluralistic.net/2024/10/08/wat

A new report from Cybernews reveals just how much data the next generation Pixel 9 phones collect and transmit to Google, without any user intervention, and in defiance of the owner's express preferences to the contrary:

"On a positive note, not a single data packet traveled to any third parties during the observation period"

@corlin using a good DNS service can help here

Like CTRL-D set up per device

a heck of people think toggling the quick settings location to off actually stops apps from tracking their location - that isn't an opt-out, never has been, and never will be - is very surprising that people think that

@duglop indeed there is a valid use for AI no doubt and it can be a very handy tool

Unfortunately, like most things, it can he used for bad and its more the bad use cases that get headlines

Im not a hater of AI, and i do use it and started using it more and more, its not going away

The way things are heading soon we won't trust anything - all *things* will be deemed AI generated and even the real stuff will be deemed AI generated which has already begun in certain circles

It's a way to avoid truth - "thats AI"

Its a way to avoid ignorance - "that's AI"

It's a way to stop believing - "that's AI"

Its a way to be more outraged - "thats AI"

It's all AI nothing is real anymore nothing.... Unless it fits a narrative

When an audio clip appeared to show a local school principal making derogatory comments, it went viral online, sparked death threats against the educator and sent ripples through a suburb outside the city of Baltimore.

But it was soon exposed as a fake, manipulated by artificial intelligence - so why do people still believe it’s real?

US federal judge has ruled that Google must allow Android apps made by rival technology firms onto its Google Play app store for three years starting next month.

I'd say its a worthwhile feature that users should actively enable imo

My Chromebook has charging optimisation, Adaptive Charging and Limit to 80%, and it works a treat stopping the charging when battery is at 80%

Especially useful if you have a device plugged in a lot
