People might knock google chrome but if it wasn't for chrome we wouldn't have chromium based browsers that are probably the best browser out there

Brave, Cromite, Vivaldi, Edge, Safari, Thorium, ungoogled-chromium, Opera - opera GX - opera neon(although China meh), torch, comodo dragon, falkon etc.... There's loads of choice out there each with their own added extras and some with really good privacy settings

@feloneouscat 😂😂

You'll love this then

Google's reCAPTCHA v2, built for security, is exploiting users for profit

Personally i use a heck of a lot of google stuff but you can lock-it-down and kinda limit what they actually get from you - problem is far to many people just don't give a dam and don't even bother to do simple stuff via account settings never mind dig in and lock-shit-down-further by other means

@Minholkin its soul destroying

Not only for those who do it but for folk who watch it and others who have to put up with it

No one comes out a winner

Chrome in Standard Protection mode will also be asked to enter the passwords of the downloaded archives.

However, both the file and the password stay on the local device, and "only the metadata of the archive contents are checked with Safe Browsing," the Chrome Security team says.

"These two tiers of warnings are distinguished by iconography, color, and text, to make it easy for users to quickly and confidently make the best choice for themselves based on the nature of the danger and Safe Browsing's level of certainty,"

security.googleblog.com/2024/0

When downloading password-protected archives (e.g., zip, .7z, or .rar), users with Enhanced Protection toggled get prompted to enter the password before sending the file for additional scanning via Google's Safe Browsing service.

Chrome users will now see warnings alerting them of suspicious files (based on lower confidence verdicts and unknown risk of user harm) or dangerous files (on high confidence verdicts and high risk of user harm)

Chrome browser now also sends suspicious files to the company's servers for a deeper scan for users with Enhanced Protection mode enabled

@john_b 👍

Added it to mine a while back and each time I read it always meant to share here & forgot lol just saw it posted on F-Droid mastodon account minded me 😂😂 and since I'd already read it I didn't forget 🤫

@catlynne333 yeah but that 45 million a month was for access to trump should he win & he'd probably get access

Elon knows that's getting slimer each day so why waste cash when he won't get access

I do like F-Droid weekly roundup thingy they do

This Week in F-Droid (TWIF in short)

f-droid.org/2024/07/18/twif.ht

Let's ya know what apps have been added as well apps being removed and downgraded can be handy in finding new apps as well as making sure you know what they apps were removed for and you might wanna remove them from your device

Looks good but it'll boil down to widget function weather widget pro allows me to set-up shortcuts ex: tap time opens clock\alarm(or any app) tap date opens calendar app(or any app) also shows me my 7daya advanced next 2 appointments from my calendar app

For years now & I mean years I've been using the same weather app on all android devices I've had its one of the 1st things I do is install that thing with new devices

weather widget pro

that might change now I've found

A foss weather app for . highly customizable

github.com/breezy-weather/bree

@b4cks4w guessing a lot of users might use crypto as means of payment to proton services

Other than that idk 🤷‍♂️

Its pretty straight forward as well - grab the URL from the source where you download APK from and, can be F-Droid or any site really, GitHub it's the realese page URL, input it into Obtainium add app section - Obtainium will grab the APK download it - you verify using AppVerifier - then install it

Now the app is installed and Obtainium will check for future updates

I sent all the docs but still can't seem to get it set up methinks they be taking piss & just to dam lazy to read the wiki and other documentation I sent - knowing I'd say yeah come round I'll set it up

Got a friend coming round cause they can't get Obtainium "app store" set up properly

"It doesn't have any apps in it"

😂😂😂

I mean, nope it doesn't you have to add the "apps" manually then Obtainium app checks for future updates

counter.social/@ecksmc/1126367

You add apps by finding their github page or from any other source

github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium/

Before all that you need AppVerifier

github.com/soupslurpr/AppVerif

so, Eat Your Beans but Skip Reading Dr. Steven Gundry’s ”The Longevity Paradox”: Flaws and Fruits & everything else he says\promotes

truehealthinitiative.org/news/

I mean, smh at some people

Got a msg from someone

Is Dr. Gundry and "leaky gut" a scam?

Obvs this person has been watching to much of Russell Brand on Rumble cause he promotes this numbnuts of a Dr daily

So my reply

my opinion everything about him is a scam. He’s probably already selling every vitamin known to man to try and make up some of the nutrients in the foods he says we shouldn't eat.

As a scientist he should know foods provide more nutrients than supplements.
