@ecksmc I wonder where all these numbers come from. Are you required to give your employment history when donating money?

@ToruOkada no idea - not an American myself so, couldn't even guess how they numbers come from

That said there are plenty of stat tools about that do generate info of that nature - again as to the actual method used to generate they stats i haven't dug into - mainly cause i couldn't care 😂😂

@ecksmc I wouldn't know either for the same reason. But eLOL tends to latch on to misinformation, hence my question.

@ToruOkada if you scroll in on the musk screenshot you can see a source bottom left for the graph he posted 👍

Maybe that site/service has an explainer on it

@ecksmc Never heard of Quiver Quantitative. Is "Alternative Data" something like Conway's "Alternative Facts"?

@ToruOkada

Yes, you are asked to name your employer. It's intended to prevent companies from circumventing campaign finance laws by using employees as a proxy. No idea how well it works.

@ecksmc

@tyghebright Ah, thanks. I didn't know this. This opens of course a bunch of other questions - all of which would not exist if each campaign had a spending limit. @ecksmc
