Short life for trolls on #CoSo

Another One Bites The Dust - Queen
Just want to say thank you to @th3j35t3r for keeping this place safe. Absolutely on the ball! 💙
@GentlyFeral Hume mentions that name among a few other luminaries of 19th century Paris. Interestingly, it seems "boulevardier" is the higher term than "flaneur", but I like the factor of "idleness", not as "wasting time" but as "the journey IS the destination", the zen notion of being present as the objective, that not having "somewhere to go" can be good.
Hey gang! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU who responded to my inquiry with patient guidance. I have read https://countersocial.documize.com/s/c30dhakp0nhtab60utag/countersocial-blog/d/c5piofvuaqg133k3is90/the-short-history-of-countersocial-and-mastodon/ - I dig it, and I'm going to stick around here :-) Cheers.
@GentlyFeral This is the article that first introduced me to the term, some of its history and impact on civil engineering, and assured me that what I felt when strolling was neither new nor unique nor strange/weird! https://www.thestar.com/news/2008/05/03/in_praise_of_the_lost_art_of_strolling.html
It has (finally!) dawned on me that CoSo is a "mastodon server" that is NOT connected to the fediverse. I've read the FAQ here, and I get what it's trying to do. My personal, admittedly unsolicited opinion (and perhaps technically unstable) is that connecting to the federation could still happen with those bad actor nations still blocked, which would increase connectivity to the rest of the social landscape. No?
@bioscilibrarian Thanks for taking the time to make this suggestion! I do think, however, that a combination of Sengi on laptop and Tusky on mobile could be the optimal mix for me (on Mastadon, anyway) - IF, that is, I do decide to engage multiple accounts (right now, I'm surprised that I'm not sure I still want to, but I was curious how feasible it could be at all).
@kel LOL!
@paxterrarum @MarianneWerzOBrien And, how about linking notes?
@ardosi Yep, I heard Tusky for Android could work for me on Mastodon...then again, maybe it's time to just do everything through my one account...? That'd be kinda weird for me!
@paxterrarum @MarianneWerzOBrien Excellent! I tried Standard Notes and still use Crytpee, which are fully encrypted...but search was limited to the note titles and they certainly couldn't search words in images. And Evernote, awesome at search, sucks at encryption. So, these were painted as polarities - either full encryption, or good search. If Joplin offers both, that's compelling!
@publickovacs THANKS!
@imagine_enigami @kel Good to know, thank you!
@kel I'm hearing you, but that just doesn't capture my experience on Twitter. I blocked users on Twitter, and I'd imagine others may have blocked me. As for engagement, that wasn't my prime motive - I tweet what I tweet and people respond or don't, I never edited my tweets to optimize for engagement.
I mean NO antagonism here. I'm merely enjoying learning about this space and how to contribute to it being safe and respectful and engaging, all the things I'd wished Twitter to remain.
@publickovacs Which blow dryer is it...?!
CounterSocial isn't Twitter Show more
@kel Right? Even more bizarre is how he's flipped his base. When it was all about Tesla and electric vehicles, I was a fan while the pickup truck-driving "I love oil and gas" crowd, who tend to be conservative, hated him. Now that he empowers their spewing of hate, he's emerged into their champion. Life is complex indeed.
@paxterrarum @MarianneWerzOBrien Given its E2EE, how robust is Joplin's search functionality?
@mcfate @paxterrarum Right?! It's not like this was a photograph or anything!
