@ExPatExp88 @feloneouscat no way Texas goes blue this election. the closest we came was 2018 when Beto ran for Senate and got within 2.5% of beating Fled Cruise, but since then we've backslid to a 9-10 point difference and while Dems are excited about a younger candidate, I don't think we have the enthusiasm or the numbers to turn purple just yet.
@feloneouscat @ExPatExp88 which is sad because beto being adamantly pro-gun control is one of the things that made me so excited about his candidacy. i've spent 42 years in this pew-pew-obsessed hellhole and it feels like we'll never do the sane thing and ban guns. even uvalde voted republican after burying children they couldn't identify but for their shoes because of guns. i'm just not seeing the blue wave reaching texas shores anytime soon.
@dietotaku @feloneouscat I felt the same. I too liked his anti-gun stance. But it makes sense to me now after reading @feloneouscat’s comment that that would not be popular in Texas. 😔
@dietotaku @ExPatExp88
History is a guide, not a predictor.
Had Beto not been so adamant about gun control he would have won.
I also disagree with the backslide view. If you look at trend, all major cities are blue. It’s the red counties that are dying off.
Which is why Republicans want to change our state laws so you have to win a plurality of counties (think electoral college) rather than popular vote.
We’ve been purple for over a decade.
