@Stonekettle That's not exactly what the judge said. She didn't classify a President as an 'officer of the country', is how she interpreted the way Section 3 of the 14th amendment is written. I think she also did not want to take away the rights of voters to decide. Personally, I think she passed the buck.

@okika_hilo @Stonekettle I mean, isn't the whole point of the electoral college (as opposed to a direct popular vote) that you can't necessarily trust voters to keep a dangerous demagogue or aspiring dictator out of office? that the people are susceptible to propaganda and fascist bents and so there must be a "you have chosen poorly" mechanism to keep those people from obtaining power?
