“No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” (H.L. Mencken) This seems to be the Republicans’ credo. Concerned about government spending only when there’s a Democrat in the White House, thinking the public won’t remember the debt incurred under Republican administrations. And thinking they can blame Democrats when they shut down the government. And guess what? They’re probably right!
@johnldeboer That political math has not held since at least 2018. The history of impeachment inquiries tells us that the American people side against corruption. Starr's investigation against Clinton led to losses for Republicans. This illegal Biden investigation will be the same. And every government shutdown leads to losses for the party in power that allows it to happen which has always been Republicans. These are losing positions for them.
@johnldeboer I think your assessment is incorrect. The loudest voices aren't a majority. When its time to vote the majority will come out against Donald Trump and his circus performers. In the mean time the true majority are simply biding their time.
@danielbsmith The majority came out against Trump the last two times. He won the first, came within a few thousand votes in key states of winning the second. That’s the Electoral College for you.
