The sky is blue because it's usually about 30% to 90% water vapor, which scatters small wavelengths of light. Clouds are areas of the sky where humidity, pressure, and temperature combine to allow the water vapor to condense enough that all visible light is scattered.

Just FYI.

I know this ELI5 answer because my son asked me why the sky is blue, way back in 1986, when he was 5.

He must have explained it to his son, because my grandson didn't ask me.

Had some high clouds last night, but got an aurora pic anyway:

Good one!

Merrick fucking Garland ignored
"an environment that allowed financial and political crimes to flourish."

He's a tool of the ultra-rich who own us. His slow-walking Trump prosecution betrays his synarchist loyalties.

Grrr.

The VA clinic tried to send me some med supplies, but had the wrong address. The package finally arrived, but had $2.27 postage due!

It's only a couple bucks, and I find it hilarious. It was worth paying just to have the story. I can't wait to confirm with them that I got the package.

When Martin Luther King had a dream, he was inspired.

Meanwhile, I'm climbing a tree to get to school, wearing a baseball uniform, and frantically looking for my white "Dixie Cup" Navy hat.

Maybe I shouldn't snack on pizza with pineapple right before bed. IDK.

Florida, North Carolina, Nigeria, Tunisia, Mexico, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Poland and Austria are among the places that have experienced flooding in the last month.

It's not a local issue. If you live in a potential flood zone, consider all your options, and prepare a go bag.

The thing about Orcs occupying former Elven fortresses is that Orcs are predominantly left-handed. This puts them at a disadvantage when defending: staircases, doors, and built-in furnishings were designed to free up the right hand of defenders, while obstructing the right side of attackers.

This is partly why Sam could so successfully storm Cirith Ungol. Having your dominant hand against the wall on a staircase is a huge impediment.

The "floods" page of Wikipedia is scary AF, particularly for it's extensive spawn of floods with their own articles.

2021 floods has it's own disambiguation: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floods_o

Of all the horrific videos, photos, and stories coming out of Appalachia this week; the video(s) of Lake Lure are, for me, by far the most disturbing.

Peaceful, pleasant holiday lake, now a clogged trash pile. There's more than just splintered lumber and other items in there: there are bodies, both killed in the flood and floated up from graveyards; livestock and pets; and chemicals, sewage, and rotting foodstuffs.

How TF do you clean that up? Nightmare fuel.

I'm flattered that Ad Astra wants me to invest, but I'm uncertain what exactly is involved:
