What the?

Here's a (hypothetical) example of how tariffs work:

Portuguese companies sell cork in the US for 20% less than US cork manufacturers. The US government puts a 25% tariff on Portuguese cork.

Now Americans pay 20% more for cork, because they're buying US cork.

That's it. Portugal doesn't give us monies - they sell less to us, so lose those sales.

US citizens pay more for cork.

Puh'leeze!

We're not hearing anything more about the Trump assassination attempt because the government doesn't know how to explain to us the facts of time travel.

Gloom & Doom abound today.

Let's take an art and beauty break.

For everyone freaking out over the extreme weather - 100Β°F heat one week, 40Β°F chill the next - it's too late to complain.

Global climate change and it's attendant weather extremes became inevitable December 12, 2000. That's the day the Supreme Court appointed a climate denier as preznit over a guy who literally wrote a book on global warming.

Hang on tight, the rides just beginning, folks.

Very smoky in the Puget Sound. The sun over Everett is Tatooine-like.

This is a mildly disturbing use of AI; however, I approve.

Pretty sure I've posted my solution to gun issues before:

Require gun insurance. That's the only rule - all the government regulates. Simple liability coverage. If you can get insurance, you can own it.

If you lie to get insurance, 10-years no parole. Require any insurance agency offering liability to operate in every state, under federal guidance.

Other than that, no rules. Let the market work to keep out the nuts & the angry.

That first guess!

This is how one knows that the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" is less than - far less than - the Congressional Medal of Honor: Bill Cosby has one.

Use pine tar, available as cans of equine hoof treatment at farm suppliers, for Tar & Feather events. Heat the product no more than 112Β°F (45Β°C) to avoid burns - set the can in hot water to heat, like using a double boiler.

Feathers are readily available from pillows. Not 'MyPillows', those are foam.

Strip the victim to the waist, pour a quart (liter) over their head, then dump the feathers on top.

Carrying them out of town on a rail is optional.

Remember, Pine Tar - not Roofing Tar.

Tough.
