What was your favorite car that you owned?
Mine was a 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina.

Why? When it was hard to start cold. Not a muscle car. Nor a sports car. Both of which I have owned. But it was fun to drive. Had lots of room. And great visibility. Some thought it was under powered. But I never thought so, for what is was for, an urban daily driver, that zipped around city traffic. Anyway it was my favorite.

@corlin

73 VW Bus, easy to work on, and would go anywhere ;)

@corlin I was partnered for a long time with a man who drove a 1936 Ford pickup. I came to love that truck.

@corlin - 1984 Chevy cavalier convertible... Because convertible.

@0x56 @corlin I used to have an '84 wagon that was a great little car for a while for me! Somebody near here has a Z24 Cavalier convertible in excellent shape that grabs my eye every time I go by. There's something wrong with me that way.

@corlin By the official Top Gear rules, you're only a true car lover once you've owned an Alfa Romeo.
My Dad had the 1981 Alfasud 1.5 and we all adored it. Unreliable, of course, because it was an Alfa and they didn't know how electricity works 🤣, but we didn't care.
Sadly it was destroyed in a crash with an oncoming idiot on a country road.
I still remember the license plate number:
NCV 857X ❤️

@stueytheround
Yep that’s the truth about Alpha’s and electricity…

@corlin I'd have a newer one at the drop of a hat. They're reliable nowadays.

@corlin

A fav was a 1969 Toyota Landcruiser that I drove in high school then later bought from my parents (for $750) when I was in college.
It was a beast. It could go anywhere.

@realDDGlover

Oh yes.
I never owned one.
But I know the reputation it had.

@corlin @realDDGlover Some of those ran the Ford 200 straight six like my '66 Mustang had. That's been on my wish list since I cared about cars.

@corlin , any car that I have actually owned. They gave me the freedom of being able to go when I wanted or needed to. Some have been absolute pieces of shit. None have been anything new or special to anyone but me. My current ride has taken me many places, enabled me to have savings, will still break speed limits despite literally smelling like hot garbage. ( Don't try to "straddle" stuff on the road, folks.)

@corlin 1972 Datsun 510. So much fun to drive! I still miss it

@corlin 1989 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo. Hella fun to drive. 3 cylinder but you would never know it when the turbo cut in :)

@corlin 1970’s Austin Mini Cooper was my first car. Yellow with black racing stripe. Went like a canary on 100% caffeine lmao. Fun!

@corlin

I didn't have a car when I was young but hubby and I bought a19 71 Volvo 145 wagon and drove it til 1993. My son rolled it in 93 and had no injuries...Always loved Volvo

@corlin Hard to pick. The '66 Mustang? The '71 International flare-side? The '86 4Runner? Actually, the two I had the most fun with were these (not my photos but the right colors). The '82 Tercel coupe I used to have black Celica rims on and I'd snow-drift that thing on the ungroomed side of the river in Idaho winters. The '79 Impala wagon was a beast! 350 with a Quadrajet a buddy of mine fine tuned so I got great mileage but could stomp on it whenever I wanted passing power. I miss these most
