Just type them into the search box, (just above the text entry box),
And a new column will appear on the right, you can then "pin" that and make it permeant.
Adding to what @corlin posted - You can also click on the tags in the toot above and a column will open up for that tag. You can pin it if you like by clicking on the 3 parallel line widget at the top right of the new column and selecting pin. You can use the < and > buttons to move the column left or right in the column layout.
