Important:

For all the folks that live in a city that also holds a state capital,
(I work in one). Please just stay home Jan. 16 - 20. Now I think that in most state capitols, things might be very messy, but not out of hand violent. Please be aware that just being close to a state capitol can get in the way of LE, and other people enforcing the law.

Now is NOT the time to do a "counter" protest. There is NO reason to be in the streets.

Stay safe, Stay sane, Stay home !

More:

By The Way, when a person that has stars on their uniform says the word "will", it is a statement of fact from the future. It is NOT a suggestion.

"President-elect Biden will be inaugurated and will become our 46th Commander in Chief."

For you folks that might worry.
Yes I work in downtown Salem Oregon, near the state capitol.
I will be working Sunday, and Monday 17th & 18th.
But very early in the morning, (0000 to 0800).
They have closed the capitol building down, and delayed the legislation session.
We do have a "civil disturbance plan", and it is in action.
I will be safe.
So no worries.

@corlin I’ve always liked those dude’s videos, really liked them. I’m not sure I agree with him about his message this time around. I grew up in a military family and I’ve heard the violent rhetoric. And no matter how many stars those officers have on their shoulders they are not the boots on the ground. In addition, people have been documenting white supremacy infiltration to the military for years. So yeah, I’m hoping for the best, but braced for the worst. Fingers crossed.

@catie

You are absolutely right. The military has a rank and file White Supremacy problem. So do the LE departments all around the country.

This will take some time to fix.

@corlin it’s quite the conundrum isn’t it? White supremacy is at its core authoritarianism and yet the forces we hope to use to root it out (I.e. the military) are by their very nature authoritarian.

@corlin 👍🏻 No plans to be anywhere near there

@corlin
We already have news stories about one extremist group applying for a permit to march/assemble, making another extremist group publicly state they will choose to stay away. Who knows who may choose to just show up to fight?!?

@corlin I would also stay out of Philly. Being the birthplace of the nation I feel like it could also be place whack-o's decide to go. I live between Philly and Harrisburg and I am not going anywhere near them.

@corlin
I live near a state capital, and work in one, and I can share that some companies located near capitols have instituted a mandatory work-from-home policy all next week. Like, don't even *think* about coming into the office. No one will be there.

@corlin
I did not know that, but I'm certainly glad to hear you'll be safe. Please do be careful, not that you need me to remind you. Crazy times!

@corlin

Stay safe, friend. Do you know if the houseless folks in the area have a plan to stay out of harm's way?

@evistre
No official plan...
But they are pretty aware of what is happening. So they scatter fast.

@corlin Imagine the fun when your state capitol is surrounded by hospitals treating COVID patients and department of health...

@yogapaddlerun

About 4 miles from the State Capitol

Here it is the State Fair Grounds, now taken over by the State National Guard, doing both inoculations, and setting up a field hospital in case they are needed.
