Listen...
This might be important, might just be bullshit.
But a fellow I have known for 21 years, just emailed me.

Said the FBI showed up at his door asking about me.
He told them all he knew, that we have worked together for 20 years In AA, & NA, helping others to get and stay sober.

I have no idea why the FBI is interested in me today.

Really, truly, I am NOT into anything that the FBI would want to know more about.

Now setting up a "Warrant Canary" I will post a link when done.

More:

I have a message into my lawyer.
Yes I have one on retainer. It is not that expensive, and handy to have.

If she agrees we will both contact the FBI on Monday.

More:
Update. First I want to thank all of you for your concern.
On the advice of my lawyer, who has been investigating this, I can not reveal the whole story, or identify any individuals involved.

2.
But I can say this, this is mostly a case of an unreliable witness.
My friend had relapsed, and was very drunk at the time of this visit.

Some facts: Yes the FBI visted my friend, No they were not looking to talk to me. My friend had in the resent past had some contact with some self identified ANTFI folks, in Portland Or. This led the FBI to do a "background check" on my friend. This is why my name popped up.

3.
The FBI has no interest in me, what so ever. Yet it is a bit concerning that they asked about me, from just the information found in a "background check". My lawyer has offered a meeting with the PDX FBI, and they declined.

So Basically it is all over, everybody can relax, go home, and know that the FBI probably more information on you than you think.

@corlin
Sending you good thoughts
Let me know if anything I can do

@corlin thatโ€™s weird. Do you have a common name?

@Thumprhare
NO.
One of a kind.

40 years ago. I did have some contact with the FBI.

And before that my dad had security checks, and the FBI would visit me, just to confirm my address and phone #....

@corlin ๐Ÿคž

nothing worse than not knowing

even though you know you ain't done anything

making contact with them is the best move "nip that in the bud" so to speak

@corlin
So now Iโ€™m concerned. Youโ€™re one to have your ducks in a row. But please keep us posted. Hopefully just an info session of little consequence. Or a name recognition coincidence.

@corlin I hope they don't have you confused with someone else.

@corlin

Sounds like you have it as under control as you can.
My only question would be around the reliability of the fellow youโ€™ve known for 20 years. (What with the recent proliferation of conspiracy theory advocates.)

No matter what, I hope it goes well. ๐Ÿ’—

@raspberrypanda
That is the thing...
He is NOT 100% reliable.
He did in further conversations, state that he did, see and write down names and descriptions of the offerers.

So I have that.

They were from the PDX FBI office.

We will see.

@corlin

Wishing you the best as you navigate this.

is always here. Whatever you need. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

@corlin
The FBI came to our door a few times looking for people who used to live at our address and used it to register businesses. Presumably those businesses ran afoul of the law at some point before we moved in.

Hopefully no one gave your name instead of their own when they got arrested.

Or used a $ rm -f -r command someplace they should not have. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

@corlin Iโ€™m glad to hear everything is OK for you.

@corlin Thank you for this update!! Iโ€™ve been checking regularly so not to miss. Iโ€™m relieved that youโ€™re AOK as a result of the inquiry. ๐Ÿ’œ

@corlin

Good to hear there is no interest.
Long may that continue. ๐Ÿ‘

@corlin Sorry to hear all this happened to you. Keep doing the good works!
