I just had to turn down a get together with several old friends because a radical right-wing acquaintance got invited. I explained I don't want to create a pick-a-side atmosphere, but I just can't be around the guy. I know the things he says when I'm not around and I will not give social legitimacy to fascist. I can't even imagine trying to keep a meal down seeing him there. Screw that.

Most of the Trump voter I know I cut off during the Obama years after they made jokes comparing him to a monkey. These are ALL shitty people.
Good thing I have comfortable walking shoes because I see a lot of protests and marching coming in the years ahead. I remember the orange asshole's first term and this one will be worse. My fear is this time around peaceful marches will be met with increasing police violence. Time will tell.
Last night I went to see 'Oh, Mary'. I made the plans to go months ago, knowing I would be either be celebrating or in need of a distraction on 11/6. Unfortunately, it was the latter and not the former. An extraordinarily funny show! Highly recommended. Easily the funniest show about a Presidential assassination I have seen (so far). Now I just need to find several hundred more distractions...
The fact of the matter is that this is largely a hateful, greedy, and stupid country. I blame myself for being repeatedly surprised it is.
I weep for those who will suffer the most. This will be a nightmare for LGBTQ+ people. Ukraine is likely fucked. Immigrants and their extended families will suffer. Science again ignored. The list goes on and on.
