At 14 years of age and 62 pounds, Mr. Tan Man is supposedly the equivalent of 88 in human years according to the Nonlinear Wheel Of Canine Aging posted at the veterinarian’s office. You wouldn’t know it, as he is more spry and energetic than his aging human mom. Our long walks have probably helped us both. My bad knee has slowed me down, and he has thoughtfully slowed his gait to incorporate more activity. Together, we persevere.

@djmpb So it’s true: the financial beatings will continue until morale improves.

It’s amazing [sickening] how many of my neighbors are suddenly obsessed with the environment now that I drive an , asking “What happens when all those batteries are dumped in a landfill.” “Are you KIDDING?” I replied. “First of all, they can be repurposed for solar storage. Also, given the expense, time, and trouble it took to mine the metals used in the batteries, NOBODY’s dumping them!”

Despite his sad origin story as a stray, Mr. Tan Man has something that many of us humans do not: a mother who loves him fully and unconditionally and always has his back.

@HealingHobbit @SandHillThicket If you’ve ever watched veterinary shows on television, you would NEVER drink raw milk.

@SandHillThicket Health “nuts” drinking raw milk were already playing microbial Russian roulette.

JUST IN:
virus found in raw milk sold in California.

Raw Farm, LLC has issued a recall for quart and half-gallon sized milk products with an expiration date of Nov. 27.

@Lindy yes, the lower (green) plant is a palmetto. I had one here in NC in my garden and it died due to a deep freeze. I tried removing it myself and I couldn’t BUDGE it. I asked my tree trimming contractor to help me and when he and his crew finally got it out, the hole was crawling with venomous snakes! Very “Indiana Jones” vibe!

I THINK this is some kind of palmetto (not sure which variety). They grow everywhere on the bayou, but you risk your life if you try to get to them. Too many snakes and alligators, among many other bitey critters.

@ArcturusSaDiablo yeah, that’s some serious negative energy. I happen to LOVE the user interface enough to have told the world in my 2022 review.

When we built our retirement home, we added this path between our back yard and our neighbors’ back yard. They’re wonderful people who impressed us immediately when we met them during construction. This week, we’re hosting them for Thanksgiving. Sadly, due to their many surgeries, they’re no longer sufficiently ambulatory to make this short journey so they’ll be driving and coming in through our handrail-equipped garage.

This Thanksgiving - and every day - we should be thankful for the harvesting our crops. Mass deportation would devastate their lives - and our food chain. This excellent article is the work of the American Immigration Council. I’m supporting their efforts with a monthly donation as one small way to to help those in peril under the incoming administration. Check them out at
