One of my husband’s friends spent his career working for the US Department of Commerce as a trade representative to Asia. My husband asked him about the Trump implementing his massive tariffs. Not happening, said his friend. To do that, our government would have to break existing trade agreements, something they can’t do unilaterally. The World Trade Organization https://www.wto.org/ would need to agree to that, unlikely if it disrupts international trade and financial stability. #Politics

@cassandra17lina Except if Trump decides he doesn't need to listen to the world trade organization or international courts and such, he can go right ahead and burn all those agreements down.
Of _course_ there would be terrible consequences, but _terrible consequences for us_ is not a thing Trump cares about.
I think he'd love it if he could write something with a pen and collapse the global economy.

When you owe someoneone a trillion dollars, you have leverage over them.
And if you don't care what happens to anyone, or are too stupid to understand what happens, it doesn't _matter_ what the consequences are.
God is not going to come down from heaven and enforce European trade agreements on Trump.
