In my continuing effort to recycle and reuse unneeded objects around the house, I recently returned some large glass vases to the wonderful local florist who had used them for arrangements like this. They were thrilled! I saved one vase to use as my “lettuce washing” vase. I fill it with a mix of water and white vinegar to soak and help sanitize the leaves. Everything has a purpose, and if done right, that purpose can evolve.

When me moved to this smaller town 6 years ago the city was doing comingled recycling pickups every week. Then they stopped as it turned out much of that material was going to the landfill anyway. So it's not an option for us except for cardboard.

Each week our neighbors, a couple and 1 son, put out their trash cart and it's so full the lid never shuts on all of it. It's disturbing how much that is. Every week. My wife and I barely full ours 1/4 of the way.

We took a bunch back to the local florist as well. Could have put flowers on every table at a restaurant for the number we had, LOL!
