@XSGeek oh true. But that first iPhone had the advantage of being one hell of a sexy looking gadget and more storage by default compared to most other options. I had a Palm and I did want an iPhone back then. Got it. Also think it was actually a better phone call experience than many of the PDA phones.

Switched to Android when the G1 came out as Windows phone things started down hill.

@XSGeek oh I criticize Google too. Don't worry. Lol. Remember Android first basically stealing ideas from Palm and Windows CE.

Damn, iPad updates! Stuff my Android phone could do at least 2 years ago!

I know that the iPad might do it better, and that it is new for the iPad. But they keep acting like it's all brand new. That is what kinda annoys me.

And yes, I am not an Apple Fanboy, but I do watch the keynotes to see if they are doing anything to win me back.

As I post from an Android phone...

Didn't he Apple WWDC Livestream just advocate staying up all night to code? I know for one my coding goes to shit after a certain amount of tiredness sets in.

Came in 10th (9th after a drop) out of a 60 person X-Wing Regional tournament. My best finish in a higher than casual event. And one my largest events. Went 4-2, and missed the top cut by like 130 Margin of Victory points.

Demon puppy wants to know if you have any treats for her.

I sometimes can't help bu feel like I'm a bad father figure and that I'm a bad husband.

I know this is just the bad parts of my brain trying to make me feel bad, and I fight them. But it doesn't change the fact that the thoughts still are there.

Started doing a meditation exercise every morning before work. Amazed how much taking that short time everyday seems to help.

First week at the new job done. Liking it so far, even if I still feel like a lot of it is still over my head. But, on the GitHub team, got access to some of our sites, and don't even have my work computer yet.
Looking forward to the future.

First day success. Largely shadowing other teams while waiting on an equipment delivery. But coworkers are cool and the office is fun.

In roughly 8 hours I start my new job. Nervous and excited. First time getting a job at a new company in over 8 years.

Morning CoSo. Last full day of a job at a company I've been with for 8 and half years. Feels kind of surreal. In the same building, like 50 feet from where I met my first supervisor.

Tomorrow is probably a half day if that. Mainly turning in equipment and security things and seeing myself out.

Going to miss the comfort of this job, but excited and scared to do new things.

Whelp, after much debate, I have accepted the new job, and put in the notice at my employer.

Never resigned from a company before. Got laid off once and was a contractor that we both agreed it was better to leave twice. It's weird.

I find myself not on social media much anymore. But every time I do come here and other sites, I'm still struck by the welcoming and the educational tone around here.

Love you all, keep it up CoSo!

@Plum_Creek
I think they are under shooting me because they consider me more junior in the technologies I'd be using, but if I can quickly prove mastery, I feel I have a good chance of getting raises pretty quickly there.

@Plum_Creek
I think to a large extent, my current feeling is its worth getting the business experience to help get future jobs down the line.
My current job is largely using programming in a dead language I don't really. This would give me a lot of room to dive into newer projects and newer business practices (like proper version control and agile practices) than I have at my current job.
Last few jobs I've kinda explored all wanted more experience in things I don't have.
