Growing up in sitcoms and in wider media, I always saw the dads who were happy and proud of their lawn care routines. When the hell does that start?

Apparently I won a contest at work to attend a launch event for one of our next satellites. Gonna be visiting CA for the first time.

So finally ran the little prewritten Pathfinder adventure for my wife and 2 boys.
The 4 year old lit up anytime he got to roll dice. And playing the fighter, he was slaughtering the monsters left and right.
It was awesome.

And on top of everything I'm planning for what I kind of hope will become a regular family RPG night.
Playing with my wife, a 15-year-old and a 4-year-old.
I think it's going to be an experience

Being on call for a full week and actually getting pages still feels weird.
Transitioning to more a site reliability type role isn't exactly where I thought I'd be, but enjoying it immensely.

Woke up on Monday morning to find a message from the designer of one of my new favorite board games. A game that I built a website to help people play.
The designer just sent me high quality card images for the current game and it's next expansions that haven't launched yet. And permission to post it
Got some improvements I need to make them useful before I can really integrate the new cards permanently, but I am so stoked to be in this position.
Yay side projects.

Replaying through Metal Gear Solid games and I forgot just how weird parts of Metal Gear Solid 2 get. Haven't played that one since it pretty much came out on the PlayStation 2.

Having a hacked PlayStation classic is kind of fun, but the carousel gets a little full when you start adding like hundreds and hundreds of games to it. Lol.
Gonna have to organize it a bit

I hate when looking for answers to a problem, you find articles and videos of people doing things the exact way you did them, only for your attempt to try it and you see nothing but errors.

A week into my new job and it's been pretty great. But damn, speed running the standard training, the kind almost every moderately sized company makes you do, over the course of years in your first few days is rough.

Sitting here at the end of the first day of 2024, and honestly, I'm super excited to see where things go.
Got a side project featured on the official site of the game it was built for.
Starting a new job in a few days.
Looking forward to seeing what else is gonna come along.

Went to a visitation for an acquaintance that was a much closer friend to my wife. He was a kind person who touched many a peoples lives as a positive force.
There were people in renaissance fair garb, onesies, Touch Consent stickers, Pronoun stickers, and literally more people than could fit in the funeral home.
They also had a table with his dice, letting people take one die in memory.
It was sad, but also just kinda awe inspiring to see this outpouring of love for such a kind and awesome guy
