Excellent article from the Washington Post on Trump's Day One promises and what he really can do: very little. (gift article) https://wapo.st/4ekeDYd
Driving the enthusiasm of some Trump voters…

I just got inspired by Paul Krugman's statement:
"Don’t ask whose fault this was. Plenty of time for second-guessing and recriminations. Ask instead, what can you do? For my part, that means telling the truth as I see it, as long as I can. The media will be under a lot of pressure to toe the line; don’t capitulate in advance"
So I won't go away. Our job now is to tell the truth, and report it, as we see it.
IMO the American experiment started to fail when we failed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. Just before that was our high-water mark. Since then, downhill; yes, a few advances on particular issues, but the overall sweep toward greater rights and freedoms at that point stalled, sputtered out, and started first creeping, then racing backward.
People don't understand economics enough to realize how crazy it is to criticize someone by saying they're a socialist and then demand to know why they aren't controlling the prices of necessities.
