@FabulousLVNV Is it okay if it's girls?
@cathyshepherd unsure what you mean love, but no, not ok. Period.
@FabulousLVNV What I mean is if the claims were about Roy didling little boys there would be outrage all round.
Little girls it's somehow okay - like they are more virginy and it's somehow commendable to persue little girls. It is sick, sick.
Their is alot of back slapping in Roy's camp because they are all at it.
@cathyshepherd Yes. There’s even a double-standard when it comes to that. I hope this sentiment of outrage continues, because it’s been a dark, insidious part of our society for far too long. Enough!
@FabulousLVNV It has to end. Maybe being open will help. Not being ashamed of being the vicitm may help.
@cathyshepherd Yes, and I believe this latest wave of exposure from those who have been abused have helped others to find the courage to tell their stories. The amount of #MeToo...Well. No explanation needed, right?
@FabulousLVNV I think it is very uncommon NOT to find a #metoo story with women. It is pretty common to find a #metoo with men as well but there is so much more stigma associated with it. Children have a right to demand protection from society - so often they are failed.
@cathyshepherd my #metoo story- when I was 6 I was molested by an adult neighbor. He made me promise not to tell. Then I was scared I'd be in trouble for not telling. I had nightmares for years.
When I was 26 I was the surprise witness at his sentencing for molesting several little girls. His defense was that he had dementia and this was "new behavior". I got to look the bastard right in the eye and say "me too". He got the maximum sentence.
My nightmares stopped.
@RogueNana @cathyshepherd So courageous!!!
@carmahaz @cathyshepherd you know, looking back it was courageous. My husband who was the only one I'd told wouldn't go to court with me. He didn't want me to embarrass his family.
He's my ex husband now.
@RogueNana @cathyshepherd @carmahaz Favorited for this line...
"He's my ex husband now."
You are a courageous woman who knows your worth... i give you a standing ovation and a heartfelt hug of support.
@mama_bear_is_mad_as_hell @carmahaz @cathyshepherd @RogueNana guys, yesterday morning I was driving to work thinking about my first job where the owner, an old Greek guy, put his hands all over me and took me out and showed me to his friends and asked them if he should take me back to Greece. When I was back washing dishes later that day, he rubbed against me. I walked home that night and never went back. I was 14.
I'm furious. There's more to this story.
@RogueNana @cathyshepherd @carmahaz @mama_bear_is_mad_as_hell
When I was 12 my parents told me if wanted new clothes for school I had to buy them myself. Not that they couldn't, I had to learn the value of a dollar. My Nana didn't think it was fair so she "hired" me until I was 14 in the summers, working harvest and helping her. She saved me in many ways. However. At 14 I was sent to get the job by my parents.
Footnote: they still don't know. My sister didn't have to get a job til 16.
@Dmbanz @RogueNana @cathyshepherd @mama_bear_is_mad_as_hell
It takes more than biology to be a parent. And way more than that to even be just a good enough parent. I’m so sorry..
@Dmbanz @RogueNana @mama_bear_is_mad_as_hell @carmahaz
Well there is nothing wrong with that. At least you can build a real support network elsewhere.
I don't talk to my mother because she's too hard. My Dad and extended family are great. I have good good friends.
@carmahaz it's ok, mine just didn't figure out they didn't want until after I was born. I don't want them either, so its mutual.
