I need to get something off my chest.

Would all of these "inspirational" videos of musicians COMING TOGETHER IN HARMONY through the POWER OF MUSIC do it with something besides BEETHOVEN'S ODE TO FUCKING JOY?!?!??!

I have nothing against Beethoven's 9th, but there is SO MUCH amazing music out there. Recycling the same few "hits" reduces "classical" music to predictable memes. It dumbs things down for the audience instead, of expanding their knowledge and experience.

^ This pisses me off to no end, because you are just playing to the lowest common denominator. Do people even know what the rest of that symphony sounds like? Let alone all of the other amazing stuff Beethoven wrote that isn't a ringtone?

I even get sick of Yo-Yo Ma who posting "inspiring" videos because it's always the same damn piece. Prelude from Bach's Cello Suite 1 in G. Because it's the one solo cello piece people recognize. Because it's crammed down their throats.

^ ... And while I'm unloading, I hope no one believes those videos with an entire orchestra or choir performing together are really happening that way. Like that high school choir video from a week or so ago that was supposedly singing "together". Some of us have tried this. Unless you're on a private WAN and / or with a very small group, it's a no go because of network lag. People play to a click track or conductor video, and everything is assembled later. It's smoke and mirrors.

@voltronic there is software that was developed to deal with the network latency and help keep everyone in sync. But I don't believe anyone is using it. It's too easy to do multiple recordings and stitch them together.

@butch
I would be very interested to see that and how it works.
