Working on collecting the last of the powers and then I'll be stepping through "the Unity" today. Have done all the side stuff I could find that wasn't bugged (looking at you, ECS Constant.) Curious to see what NG+ has to offer. After 230 hours, I'm not sure there's much left for me to want to do, but I guess we'll see.

Starfield sure has some pretty moments. It's been a nice escape the last month+, that's for sure. Think I'm winding down on side stuff tho, so I'm probably going to be finishing the main story soon, maybe within the week?

@kaehlys @Davski Huh, weird.. I did the showdown between the 3 heads and once I had sided with Frank/talked Aman down, GK and friends instantly agged on me when dialogue completed. Interestingly, GK "teleported" to the back of his enclave, so I had to go through his followers to get to him.. but had no bugs, quest completed no issues. I'm on Series X, so no mods and only whatever patch(es) had happened by the day I did the quest. I was also level 56(ish), companion at the time was Hadrian.

@Davski Yeah I made sure to loot GK's kit just because lol.

@Davski Well, GK just rubbed me the wrong way, and after going to the facility and seeing what happened there, I figured (and maybe this is a US bias on my part) Franklin had the best idea. And I was able to talk down Aman, so she and Franklin made it.

Found the Crucible last night in Starfield. That was an interesting side quest. As usual with Bethesda, I left there with more questions than answers. But I also got a new rather famous co-pilot. IYK, YK.

After 3 installs failing to boot the kernel post Grub, I figured there were some kind of driver issues or something. So I booted into recovery mode and let it run, then Ctrl D'd to continue and boom, login screen. Logged in, updated, and rebooted. Let it go on its own and it got to login screen no problem. So hello again from the fresh install, woo! Currently setting up my games and stuff etc.

So I forgot that yesterday Comcast was going to be doing "network improvements" (sure, buddy) in the area so we didn't have net most of the day. Postponed the OS fresh install to today. About to get started. Doing the last "did I back up alllllll the shit I should?" checks. Also catching up on all the news I missed yesterday, heh.

Prepping for a fresh install of Garuda on the "new" PC today. Things are working better since I built this PC and installed my boot drive, but there's still some wonkiness left over in the OS from being installed on a failing Mobo. I wanna give this OS a fair shot with a clean start on working hardware. Yeah, yeah, "just go plain Arch". I'll get there eventually. I like the ease of use Garuda provides with its assistants. And I'm learning the Arch "language" this way.

All told, this was a decently easy and "fun" build. Fractal makes damn fine cases, and this Meshify should help keep these parts clean in an RV in the city with 4 cats in it, lol. Built in dust filters for the win. I especially like how well it handles cable management though. I didn't have to add anything to the case for that, it was all built in and perfectly placed to set up the nice clean look you see in the pics. *fin*

and in the silence at 645am, heard the telltale *whirrCLICK, whirrCLICK, whirrCLICK* that signifies a dead HDD. Bummer. It's a decade old so, good run, and nothing on it that wasn't backed up already. So opened the back of the case up and pulled the HDD. 500gb, for the price I paid for it in 2012 I can prob get like a 10TB bare bones HDD these days, heh. Looking forward to Cyber Monday sales *rubs hands together*

Buttoned the case up and lugged it back to its home. Hooked up all the accessories and powered it up. Had a mini heart attack when the primary display didn't .. display. Secondary kicked on like usual tho once the login screen was reached. Thought the display had died, tried new cord. Screen snapped right on. Phew. It's 11pm at this point, so I didn't do much but make sure my night noise would work and passed out. Got up, noticed the HDD wasn't listed. Updated, rebooted....

Installed the PSU and ran the cables through the excellently placed ports in the case. Put the CPU in the socket and mounted the DeepCool heat sink, which took a half hour longer than it should have cause I lost a screw. Found a replacement after giving up finding it. Installed the ram and mounted the board to the case. Lugged it to the bedroom and did a Mobo post test. Success, yesss. Unplugged it and installed the GPU and SSD/HDD. Wired up all the components and fans, added 2 to the case top.

Check out the "new" : i5-6400, MSI Krait 3X MS-7A11,
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB DDR4 3600. Still have the 1050 TI and PNY 500gb SSD. So this build took longer than I wanted cause right out the gate, I found my old PSU wasn't going to fit this Meshify 2 case. Was gonna go Best Buy, but partner hit FB MP and she found a kid selling an EVGA 650w modular PSU, never used for 75 and I like a deal. Had to wait till 430pm to get it tho. Things went faster after that. 1/3?

@ToolPackinMama It boots. Took much longer than I wanted, but it's done and I'm typing on it right now, cause Linux don't care if you change almost your whole PC, long as the core drivers still apply, woo. Now it's bedtime. Full build post in the morning.

Ok, big SNAFU: I can't reuse my old PSU. It's just too old, so too big to slot into a newer case configs. Currently trying to run down an EVGA 650w modular listed on FB market for $70. If this kid don't get back to me soon tho I'm thinking Best Buy. 750w version of the same PSU is currently $100.

@ToolPackinMama Fasho. Stay tuned for status updates and a picture or 3 😀

Final morning using this ancient PC before building a "new" one (new case, used Mobo and CPU which is 5 gens newer than current CPU, reusing GPU/PSU for now, also storage) and it's almost like it knows I'm about to replace it. Keeps randomly muting my audio like it's throwing a tantrum lol. Gotta go to the store in a bit then time to build!

@Kaysymmetry I've lost count how many times a dude has told me all about his husband, or a girl her wife. Also amused at how many lines I've heard repeated by both male/females such as "if this shift goes long, my girl is gonna kill me!" The "freedom warriors" lost their shit over the pronouns, lol. They gotta be having strokes as they get farther in.

I'm building a "new" . Friend in NC sent me an i5-6400. Bought a Meshify 2, used MSI Krait Mobo off eBay, DeepCool heat sink, 32GB G Skill RAM kit. Mobo arrived today, complete in box, all the bits. Looks new cept for a tiny bit of dust. Heat sink yesterday, + thermal paste. RAM tomorrow. CPU should be here Sat. So I should be building Sun? Gonna reuse storage, PSU and GPU. Upgrade the GPU in the future. Current PC core is 2010 Dell. So this build will be really "new" to me, lol.
