I am now currently maniacally refreshing the area radar forecast because I have been informed that a tree fell in the other corner of the park, hitting the wall and damaging it. I went and looked, didn't see what I've been told but I didn't get a close look. So yeah, if that's true, too much rain = too much runoff = creek rising onto the wall = ... π π?? There'd be no time to tow out esp since NYE, so we'd be stuffing the car with clothes/electronics AFAP and kissing home goodbye.π¬
@Embers oof, yeah that looks similar to what we were dealing with a couple hours ago. Stay dry, yo.
Well that was "fun". Rain eased enough the pumps caught up with the flooding in here and now there's just some puddles. The runoff creek behind the wall is now back down to the dirt bank so it's not pushing water under the wall into the spot next door. Looking like the weather patterns aren't exactly following forecast, the storms are stalling on the way here so somebody else is getting more water than they expected, heh. This pattern holds we should be ok, but we'll see.
@BB160_ It's gotten a little bit better since, the flooding has receded to where there's just some puddles. The runoff creek has gone down enough it''s not currently forcing water through under the wall now. City has pumps on the end somewhere, obvs they are running them, heh. The rain hasn't been hard or steady enough for us to *really* worry, yet. So, hopefully, that was the worst we'll deal with today, but we'll see.
@KarenSohne "equipment". I have a weight bench and a resistance frame I lock my mountain bike into so it becomes a stationary bike. Use em 6 days a week, but not today lol.
So far the flooding is "minor". Just about ankle deep. The rain is intermittent so the pumps have time to catch up before it rains harder. So I don't think we're in real trouble this time, but it is a nuisance.
Well today is def the heaviest rain this week. There's flood warnings for the area, but mostly applies to the rivers/streams.
So far locally, there's some puddling around our end of the RV park. Haven't checked the "creek" out back yet...but I'm about to go out and assess some things, looks like the drain needs clearing at least. So I'll have a look over the wall while I'm out there. Gonna have to count as my exercise today since I won't be able to use my EQ in this rain. #TrailerParkLife
Managed to sneak in an hour on the stationary bike in between storm cells today. Rest of the day was spent messing with the failing storage HDD some more, followed by some #gaming on the #SteamDeck, then some #WoW to finish the evening. .. I'll prob play something on the Deck before bed, lol.
So far the rain hasn't been strong enough for us to really worry about flooding in the trailer park.. yet. It also seems that all the repairs I've done on this RV/home are holding.. π€
@Skyye lol. Maybe. Lot to catch up to these days tho. .. I prob have the time. .. crap, why'd I think that, now I'm gonna want to.
@etakeh Not everyone can be. And we all get older and slower eventually lol. Why I tend away from Souls games, tho Elden Ring is tempting me since I can just level till I'm overpowered. I like platformers but I've stopped playing the Meat Boy clones. My reaction times aren't quite up to those anymore. I only get by in Destiny thanks to the aim assist hehe. I can still play most games on whatever passes for "normal" difficulty but who knows how long that lasts. I'll keep going till I can't tho π€£
Spent most of the last couple days dealing with a mildly failing HDD (storage, thankfully). Been copying off what it will let me to my 8tb ext and deleting stuff. I'm getting close to having just the stuff that fails to move but still works (mostly music at this point). Prob try a clone, run disk checks to see if I can get the rest off before I pull it for a replacement. Least I've had the #SteamDeck to entertain me while I waited out long copy times lol. Now to play a couple hours of #WoW
@etakeh Nice. Yeah I'll use a walkthrough for hints if I really get stuck, tho I try to finish the game and then go look up what I might have missed and if it's worth putting more time in, depending on the game.
I play so much varied stuff I tend to pick a path and stick with it to the end and that's good enough. If the game has a radically different path/endings then sometimes I'll go back and do it again, if I have the time.
@etakeh Meant to comment on this yesterday but now that I see you're enjoying it (at least some heh) a couple similar games to check out if you haven't:
What Remains of Edith Finch
The Witness (some of the puzzles are tough tho)
Everybody's Gone To The Rapture
Ether One
Lifeless Planet
Rime
Observer
It's been years since I played most of these so I'm a little fuzzy on how much reaction time is needed for them, but I'm mostly sure none of them are "combat based" games lol.
@tyote Indeed. Game Pass and PS+ def help with that these days.
@etakeh hehe. Honestly I put Lake first as it kinda fits what you said about just lemme explore a world. It's not a huge world, and there are some constraints to it IIRC, but I think it'd be a good one to start with. It's super laid back (even tho there are story elements that make you wonder if that laid back atmosphere is covering something lol). Overall just a wholesome experience.
@etakeh hmm, ok. Some suggestions of things I've played the last few years:
Lake
Eastshade
Unpacking
Gorogoa
Sable
Kentucky Route Zero:TV Edition
Exo One
FAR Lone Sails/Changing Tides
Toem
Disco Elysium
Manifold Garden
Shape of the World
Everything
A few of these may contain some reflex based sections. I play too many things to be able to perfectly recall them all. These should be more copacetic to your preferred play style. Also will feed game store algorithms so you'll see more like em π
@tyote I just resolved to be more informed so I started subbing to gaming mags in the 90s/got to know the clerks at Game Crazy (RIP) who would give me last month's issues that didn't sell lol. Once the internet became a real viable thing in the early 2000s I got a PC and started following stuff online. It's impossible to keep up with EVERYTHING these days tho. So many games released every day π΅
@etakeh Yeah I didn't understand PowerWash either but it got interesting reviews and was "free" with Game Pass so I gave it a shot, was pleasantly surprised, plus I caught up on my podcasts cause you literally don't have to listen to the game at all lol. I prefer my games to have story more often than not these days as well. Why I still love WoW. They have some of the best writers. It is a little hard finding good story games that aren't action based since those are what's trending these days.
@etakeh ahh. So more along the lines of point-and-clicks and their ilk, eh? . Haven Moon is decent. The Silent Age is in my library but I haven't gotten to it yet. PowerWash Simulator is good, esp if you listen to podcasts lol. There's even a story which gets pretty wild. Pentiment is excellent. Encodya was cool. um.. ooh, I Am Dead π . A Memoir Blue is different but cool. I'll have to look at my recently played lists on the consoles, I played too much this year to recall it all without help heh
