Jala has returned home after 3 years and is about to face all her exes and her family as her sister prepares to marry.
This is a great game. I quite enjoyed the windows into various cultures. It's great to see so much diversity and representation, done well and not played for a joke or to tick things off a list "the kids are into". This is a game all should at least try. 👍 👍 👍

You are Etienne, a writer who can dive into books. Steal the artifacts and escape your shackles.
This is an interesting little game. FPS walking sim in the "real world", isometric turn based crawler when you dive into a book. Seeing how you interact with the books via bringing IRL things with you is cool, as is watching how the books change. Reading is fundamental. 👍

So here's my usual sentiment for today: If you're lucky enough your family isn't split across the current political chasm, Happy Thanksgiving. If family isn't an option, Happy Friendsgiving, hopefully. If you don't give a shit/aren't in the US, enjoy your Thursday. Also fuck Black Friday. Hope none of you have to go to work this afternoon for that shit.

The water has gone. You must climb The Tower in search of why.
This is an impressive climbing sim, in that the climbing mechanic is (mostly) painless. You can't walk off an edge, nice. I dig the art style. Finding the collectibles is rewarding enough I've gone back in looking for them after completing the "story". Following the stories of the people who left the tower brings the feels.👍 👍

I "finished" Jusant last night. Then I went and looked at the Chapter listings and was happy to confirm I had missed many of the collectibles, because I don't wanna be done with the game yet.

@thewebrecluse Yeah that's basically what I've seen from reviews. I'm fine with slow, I'm getting old and slow myself 😆 I don't mind a curated experience either, games don't have to be open world to be enjoyable. I'm more interested in the dialogue and what changes based on choices made. I figure I'll pick it up on a sale/it'll show up in Game Pass/PSN+ at some point and end up being worth the time investment for me.

@thewebrecluse The book is a classic, read it decades ago now so memories are vague. They were enough that this game's announcement intrigued me, though. It's reviewed decently enough so I intend to pick it up at some point. Biggest complaint I saw was it was "slow", but it's a walking sim.. who can actually jog everywhere all the time, lol.

Planet of Lana (Multiplatform, played on ) Lana and her new pet rush to save her sister/others from robot abductors.
This a 5 hour "run right" platformer much like Limbo/Inside. Some mild puzzles made up of sneaking past enemies combined with tricky jumps/rearrange the stage to continue progress puzzles. It's very pretty while minimalistic. Not great on accessibility tho, with rapid button press QTEs and long press actions. 👍

Olle must find, follow and then save his sister from the Mountain King. This is a short game, 8.5 hrs, but damn it's good. And dark. I knew Scandinavian folklore was dark but jeez. I quite enjoyed this tho. Good platforming, bit of stealth, combat against giant bosses. There's a couple places it isn't obvious what to do. A few cheap deaths from hard to judge jumps. Still, 👍 👍

Ah, yes. Fall Daylight Savings day. The day the cats stare at me for an hour going "ISN'T IT FOOD TIME WTF"

Man I really like my Updated the keys/firmware and still have some frametime issues so it's a bit stuttery, but playable.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker (, )
Sign up with LYNX to salvage ships in near Earth orbit. It's a great job, if you don't mind getting killed and being charged 2.5 billion credits on your first day.
Good controller input scheme makes zero-G wrangling ship parts with lasers, demo charges and a grapple gun fun, actually. Story is amusing, and subbed default so this is a good podcast game, like PowerWash Sim. 👍

@DarksideStraxus
Well there's peertube.tv/ which is a federated alternative. Naturally it doesn't have anything like the content YT has, not that I'm sure that's a bad thing.. but it is something keep an eye on, hopefully more creators/curators will decide to also host/move their content to it as YT gets more enshittified.
As an example, tilvids.com/home is an edutainment curated peertube instance.

Well I completed the main story of Starfield. The "exposition" at the end certainly felt pretty lackluster. Stepped through the Unity and .. eh. Looked up the deal with NG+ and wasn't really impressed with what they did there sooo, I'm done. And that's ok. I quite enjoyed the 230 hour journey. So much so that I decided I wasn't done with space yet, so I started Hardspace: Shipbreaker. Starting a new job 1.25 billion credits in debt? 🤣 Corpo bullshit.
