@ecksmc Old enough to remember when Google could write software. This is at least the second bricking bug fix in the past 6 months.

@BrentSullivan @ecksmc @Madken65 The problem with opting out of Axciom is they start the process by asking for _more_ information "to verify" your identity. Their record of me is inaccurate and I've left it that way.

@MelissaHDavis It's all on Google doncha know.

I could smack some people, I really could.

@BrentSullivan @Madken65 I had a Facebook account for about a month in 2002-ish? to see what the fuss was about. Their rollercoaster privacy policy changes even then put me off. Same for Twitter (later), deleted. Never instagram, threads, whatsapp.

This is not complicated for me. I'm an irc fella.

@TomeReader won't affect ALA* at all and they'll continue to support Alabamians' best interests. Could be a bit of a drag if APLS supported state librarian's individual ALA membership costs (doubt it), but I'll wager 50 cents ALA would extend them grace.

Picking fights with ALA and Taylor Swift _at the same time_.
Gutsy.

@violetblue ...and now I know about 48hills.org/, added to News bookmarks. Thanks from the other coast.
Oh and nice to see you posting, hope you stick around.

@Madken65 To clarify I'm not suggesting we need more channels. I'm only saying I specifically don't want Facebook, Inc. hoovering up my behavioral data from 3rd parties without my consent. E.g. I've used that TaxAct and never agreed to them sending my info to FB -- but they did.
In 1999 the FCC ruled that this stuff could be opt-out. IMO it's as bad as Citizen's United for democracy.

No Facebook account and I did not consent to them trawling through my life.

"Using a panel of 709 volunteers who shared archives of their Facebook data, Consumer Reports found that a total of 186,892 companies sent data about them to the social network. On average, each participant in the study had their data sent to Facebook by 2,230 companies."

@Madken65 too funny.
I carried a Brownie for a while. Underrated camera.

Viktor Orbán pissed off the rest of the EU and then caved. Masterful tactics.🙄

@nursefrombirth That tracks, except what does Tesla need with anti-freeze in the first place. 🤔

I think we in the US have to stop talking about elections as won or lost.
One is elected to _serve_ the public interest.
I understand the reality of course but change the language and rest can follow.

@Cringeloop No, it's safe to surf. Browsing their website was not a problem.
The attack vector has been neutralized and it was a convoluted, esoteric, brittle thing to begin with. They did a good job dealing with it and are now being transparent to get more eyes on it, which is the best way to deal with this kind of nonsense. It's a pretty interesting article and discussion, I encourage anyone interested to check it out.
