Day started with sugar ants and ends with fire ants. Dug a bajillion out of the collie's foot. He's lamed. All the expletives. Icepack, anything else?
@SaltyVeruca checking my Dog Book
@b4cks4w 💛💛 pets and goo(d)boys?
baking soda paste with water to neutralize the acid, perhaps.
@holon42 thanks, he would tolerate that. For once he's holding still, even seems to want me to do something. Sigh.
@b4cks4w
poor doggo🥺🥺🥺
the soda should soothe his paw somewhat.
@holon42 book says soda and ice. THANKS. Will ring the vet tomorrow if dog stays off of the foot
AND I KICK ALL THE ANTS
if you have any aloe vera, that gel would help too. it's great for any skin problems and is soothing on burns, protects the skin too.
@holon42 yeah, think I do...good call
how is the sweet fellow this morning?
@holon42 heavily favoring the foot but able to put it down, so that's improvement.
oh good. i expect it will be tender for awhile, but the aloe vera should help healing.
@b4cks4w
Ask vet if benadryl cream is OK.
Put a cone of shame on your dog so there is no chewing at the itching and creating infection.
Kill the fire ants.
@MelissaHDavis thanks. Somehow he's not worrying it, but I expect that will start soon. Fortunately he has a really good vet and even better vet tech. Tech speaks to him in Spanish --very successfully, "All dogs speak Spanish"🤣
@b4cks4w would benadryl help?
