Went to a restarted weekly outdoor event -- cancelled since the pandemic-- in a very small rural community.

Am certain different political beliefs were present, but for a few hours everyone was just into the music, the for-once cool weather, crafts, etc.

Communities need these physical get-togethers*; felt healing.

Farmers markets/festivals for peace?

*Distancing was discretely happening, masks were around, uncommented.

When folks don't have their "leaders" screaming at them to hate each other, they seem to get along pretty well.

I agree, and that's why I've been actively trying to arrange social events, usually outside, and build community in my (non-rural) neighborhood.

@janallmac @b4cks4w

That's excellent. When you share a casserole with someone it makes it much harder to line up against them on the barricades.

@b4cks4w This is true, we do need these small gatherings in rural areas. Many of us rural living folk are still masking and distancing to keep spread down and I know that my family and I miss the folk festivals, and farmers markets in our part of Michigan.
