FACT OF THE DAY:
The worst volcanic disaster of the twentieth century is considered to be the eruption of Mt. PelΓ©e in 1902 on the island of Martinique in the Caribbean which killed 30,121 people. Only two people survived: a shoemaker living on the edge of the island and a prisoner who had been locked in a dungeon cell with thick stone walls.
@CherNohio I had what appears to be a Transient Global Amnesia. First time. From what I can tell I lost about 2 days and someone told me that I was "out of it" at some point when they spoke to me.
As soon as I started to "wake up" yesterday I went to Urgent Care. Tox screen, labs. Nothing so far. I guess I was mostly keeping to myself, which is good-ish? But yeah, going to try and rule out some of the more worrying possibilities.
@misslovelymess I do get seizures.
They never seem to have caused amnesia before. And "my" doctor refused to diagnose them as it, and I quote, "Wouldn't do any good." So that is a possibile avenue of approach. I don't seem to be having any major neuro symptoms that I can spot. Barely remember going to the ER
?yesterday? and having a blood draw.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN Let's be real for a moment; I have enough mental health and previous other head troubs that a little dissociation wouldn't be the most surprising thing.
The suddenness is what has me fucked up.
Where did this come from?
@rpardee If they didn't before...
@mcfate I have a feeling they may be strongly motivated to avoid that particular realization.
@mcfate They don't need to be subtle; their audience is all bias and no cognition.
@publickovacs I hope they are hiring more than your hair π
@BillieBun So someone told me today that I was "out of it" the other day.
And I am sitting here going, like, WTAF? Did something happen to *make* me dissociate those days? My drug screening was good, and it was not long enough to get hard drugs out of my system if they DID get there (I'll tell you one thing, if they had it would have been by no choice of my own. π) So I am just... Lost, looking for answers.
This is not the normal state of affairs for me.
@NaomiSkarzinski Yeah, I am definitely going to schedule an appointment ASAP.
@AlphaCentauri @NaomiSkarzinski I went there as soon as I was lucid enough to realize something was off. Told them what had happened, they recommended the test.
@NaomiSkarzinski Good advice. Yes, blood draw was all they did. I'm trying to piece things together. Don't feel injured, wasn't drunk or drugged. Will ask people who I have been around if they noticed anything off.
This is all very odd and new to me. I can't say that I like it.
@NiveusLepus A fine lot, us π
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I have exactly zero idea.
If I was, it was the first time. All I know is it's damn near 9:00 pm, and I feel like I am waking up from having been asleep for 2 days.
The days are completely. gone. and I really don't know how to feel about all this to be honest. I kinda wanna laugh.
@BillieBun Yeah, I am going to have to play amateur sleuth tomorrow.
Never fun.
I think I just like.... DISSOCIATED two entire days.
Like, I have exactly zero- ZERO memory of them.
I'm pretty sure I don't need to go around apologizing to people or anything because I don't think I did anything crazy but... I just don't know.
Went to the ER; got a blood draw and a drug test. No surprises, of course.
So I am just left going WTF... how the actual fuck does a sober person just LOSE two days like that? I'm going to ask about my behavior over the time span. People I trust.
