@annamuneca , I hope it doesn't happen again.
@LadyZurk only time will tell. Last year it crested at 26 feet and at 28 feet in 2020 so it’s not hugely different than recent years. If it goes much further past 30 feet that’s going to be a problem.
@annamuneca , hopefully it's not doing any of that. 🤗
@annamuneca how goes the waterwatch?
@damselfly59 they’re predicting up to 33.9 feet by this time next Saturday. Projection appears to be topping out. The last ‘big’ flood was in 1997 and that reached 39.72 feet but we had no mitigation at that point. They’ve done some work but it’s still going to be dreadful. They’ve made 200,000 sandbags so far. All due to the snow we got last month 😓
@annamuneca
Many hugs. So glad they mitigated. 96-97 was intense for flooding on west coast too. Live in the foothills and our last couple floods have been even more intense because of the excellent snow backs then warm chinooks. It is a lot of stress and prep.
Will hope for updates and slower melt for you💙
That's not good! Is much of the city in the floodplain?
@Smersh we’re in a river valley so yup. Red River Valley floods almost ever year.
@annamuneca oof no bueno. Good thoughts that things aren't too terrible this year for you all.
Oooweee we’re about to reach Moderate flooding. I should walk up the dike after work (our building is [dangerously close to] next to the dike) and take a photo each day of River levels. #RRFlood23
