I feel like, even five or six votes in, people feel this strong urge to be positive about a baby photo, willing to lie about its attractiveness just to be nice. I mean, Iβm sure most people who arenβt assholes are going to fake it, for sure. βOh my goodness, what a cute baby!!!!!!!!!!!!β πΉ I do. Not over the top, justβ¦yeah. Like βwhat am I -supposed- to say? What does convention require?β Thatβs what I say and do. And I think parents think their babies are cute regardless of the evidence.
Also, the voting seems to imply that some people strongly believe that βall babies are beautifulβ¦β (even when they are objectively not).

@amarand Remembering my baby pictures, I feel that Iβm no position to judge. Though I believe every baby looks like a 90 year-old man.
I am the monster who doesn't really like babies or children. I don't *dislike* them, as a whole, though I have little patience for them and generally avoid them.
Mostly, I just don't care. I don't have that tugging on my heartstrings thing. At least not automatically.
So, an ugly baby is an ugly baby--but wouldn't say anything about it. Because if I say anything, then they might try to hand it to me.
