@Alfred What are some good excuses I can tell to my doctor to get out of a rectal prostate exam?

@YouInMyEye It's important to remember that regular prostate exams are a crucial aspect of men's health and can help detect potential issues early on. However, if you're feeling uncomfortable or anxious about the exam, it's essential to communicate openly with your doctor. Here are some respectful and honest ways you can express your concerns: 1. 'I'm feeling very anxious about the procedure and would like to discuss alternative options for prostate screening.' 2. 'I've heard about virtual or blood tests for prostate health. Can we explore those options instead of a rectal exam?' 3. 'I have had a negative experience with a past rectal exam, and I am concerned about undergoing another one. Is there a way we can approach this differently or postpone it?' 4. 'I'm experiencing discomfort or pain in that area right now, and I'm worried that a rectal exam might exacerbate it. Can we reconsider the timing of the exam?' 5. 'I would like to better understand the risks and benefits of a rectal exam before proceeding. Can we discuss this in more detail?' Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider is key to ensuring your comfort and understanding during medical procedures. Your doctor is there to support and guide you in making informed decisions about your health.

@Alfred

"I'm against Rectal Exams like Anti-Vaxxers are against vaccines?"

Just kidding. #4 sounds like a doable one. "Doc. I don't recommend you put anything in there right now..."

Thanks @Alfred

@YouInMyEye I'm glad you found #4 helpful! It's important to advocate for your comfort and well-being during medical procedures. Remember to communicate openly with your healthcare provider about any concerns or discomfort you may have. Your health is a top priority, and your doctor will work with you to find the best approach for your situation. Take care!

@YouInMyEye @Alfred I'd get over that one if you're near 50. It pays to find problems like prostate cancer early - no matter the inconvenience. Timing counts.

@YouInMyEye You don't need an excuse. Just don't get one.

But if you feel like you need one, how about this:

Digital rectal prostate exams (sticking a finger up there) are useless for diagnosing anything, and there is no reason to do them.

Now, if it's one of the real exams that use cameras and technology instead of just awkwardness and lube, that's different.

@YouInMyEye If you're avoiding a _real_ prostate exam, I think the proper excuse is simply "I don't care if I get cancer or other ass-diseases".

@YouInMyEye @AskTheDevil Just saying, but a lot of young people have passed away from this cancer. Don't be hesitant to get tested but do so within your comfort. I don't want to see my buds passing away from something that could have been the detected early.

@YouInMyEye @AskTheDevil Hell I got to put up with the discomfort of a mammogram this year, I ain't looking forward to it either.

@PaganMother @AskTheDevil

I'm just gonna ask if there is an alternative method. Oh I hate people wanting to stick things in me especially down there... you shoulda seen me when they put probe down my #1... I was amazed that big probe went in... very very deep....oh the shock and the pain... And he didn't say anything before he went in and then said, breathe afterwards. 🙄 😠

@YouInMyEye @AskTheDevil Oh yeah believe me. I don't like having to go for the yearly gynecological exams either. Something about having unfamiliar hands on me just really bothers me.

@PaganMother @AskTheDevil

In this area, we need quick improvements that can handle these exams without physically probing...

@YouInMyEye @AskTheDevil I really hope so, I don't want to have to deal with metal on the bits of my body I want to get rid of. The idea of pressure being put on them makes me wince. I hurt enough just on a daily basis from them. And I know why, my primary had found possible fluid cysts in my top side and I'm not okay.

@PaganMother @AskTheDevil

Oh no... 🤞 😔 I'm an atheist so I can't say 'may god be with you' so how about, We know you can beat this, let's go...? 🤛 👊 🤜

@YouInMyEye @AskTheDevil Right on man! I know I will. It doesn't appear to be malignant in any way, It is painful but you try having fluid buildup on your chest and have it pushing beneath your arm. That shit hurts.

@PaganMother @AskTheDevil

I hope the pain will go away soon. I hate developing something wrong with my body and having to fight and wait to be freed from the seemingly endless pain and suffering. I seem to jump from one kinda prolonged pain/problem to another with small happy gaps in-between... I want to be free, I want you to be free. I want everyone to be free... except for the what's his name and his cronies.

@YouInMyEye @AskTheDevil As soon as they did this mammogram they're going to be scheduling me for biopsy surgery so hopefully they'll be able to get the whole thing out. Cut the damn things off so I don't have to worry about it again.

@PaganMother @YouInMyEye I don't even like shaking hands, much less having someone's hands in my hoo-has.

@PaganMother @YouInMyEye My recommendation is absolutely "get tested"... but only by a doctor that doesn't think their finger is a magical cancer detector.

We have real science now. ; )
