I always laugh when I see ads like this

"Build Your Own Apps Without Coding with AppMySite for $29"

BWAAA HAAA HAAA

Effective Immediately for all Developers and IT personnel:

Putin (Russia) now shares the same responsibility as the last person who quit and left the company.

"Oh that's not working cause <insert name here> messed up, and now we have to try to fix it. Blame <insert name here>"

- "The <> channel has too much traffic in it. we need to break up the subjects to better target the applicable audiences"

- "There are too many Slack channels! I can't tell where I need to ask a general question about feature X"

Just told my boss he needed to cut my salary by 10% cause I'm obviously TOO STUPID to earn so much.

He asked what did you do now?

I replied with "we'll just let it go and never mention it again."

on an unrelated note Sentinal is not the correct spelling for Sentinel, good thing I caught that early and didn't waste a day and half trying to figure out why sometimes queries would work and sometimes they wouldn't...

Developers are really bad documentation creators....
Bureaucratic developer documenters are MUCH MUCH worse

"My name is Vishal, working with an App/Game Development Company based in India.

We are developed any kind of mobile apps..."

does not instill in me any faith that the Indian developers will be able to create a solid product for a primarily American English audience.

Every company I've ever worked in, we have always talked about what would we do if we lost a Key person / developer in the company.

It occurred to me today, that based on those many conversations we have had over the years, Programmers are really convinced that public transit busses are sent to earth by the Devil.

The loss scenario is always phrased as "What if they were hit by a bus?"

Why do programmers fear busses?

I've left Twitter many a year ago, but if any of my fellow programmers out ther are still on twitter could you please tweet the following to

@VisualStudio

"Stop releasing updates to Visual Studio 2022 that ignore my Tab setting preference and always insert a hard coded 4 spaces"

this is the third time they have pushed out an update that goes and reformats every page I open! GGGRRRRRR

My OCD can't cope!"

For the record I do Tabs that are 3 spaces in width

Found an issue with my code where I was using a built in Win OS service, when our company has implemented its own custom service for that functionality for our different clients to use.

the iOS, and Android teams use our in-house service and I was wondering, should I take the extra development hit to implement the in-house solution, or should I just keep using the Win-OS built in one?

if no one has complained or noticed, shut up and plead ignorance is the best course

Reporting a bug to major library opensource projects (looking at you Google Angle) consists of 90% convincing them they actually have a problem in their stuff and they need to go thru the steps to reproduce it.

I've spent the last 2 hours trying to proof to some lowly QA person that I haven't just made a silly error, that if x64 and x86 build but arm64 gives `special` crash results, there is something wrong with their current arm64 configuration.

Before going in and making a modification to the base Data Access Layer of your app's framework to address an exception that has popped up, do an analysis of how much it has happened.

4 times within 2 secs of a full day of 42.7K requests, is probably something you can safely ignore.

Glad I looked before I started modifying deploying.

I hate it when the software keeps insisting on doing exactly what I'm telling it to do, instead of doing exactly what I want it to do.

Do any of my fellow software engineers out there realize that they may have gotten really worked up and frustrated when the code won't behave the way you want it too because of their pet?

The indicator to me that I need to step away from the computer is when my dog gets up and slinks out of the room I'm working in as quietly and stealthily as he can to make sure he's free of the line of fire that is obviously coming!

It always feels good when I take the time to go thru my inherited app (7 years old) and turn on strict code Analysis and make sure it has

0 Errors
0 Warnings
0 Messages

Clean code makes a happy programmer.

Now to find the bugs that popped up from the tweaking of the 25 messages I just corrected (if any).

"No you idiot! don't put visual logic and structures in your ViewModel.

All of that shite needs to remain in your View.

Stop that!"

Me talking to myself....

Who else here insist there must be NO Warnings or Information entries in the Compile output.

I treat Warnings and Information as Errors!
