Every company I've ever worked in, we have always talked about what would we do if we lost a Key person / developer in the company.

It occurred to me today, that based on those many conversations we have had over the years, Programmers are really convinced that public transit busses are sent to earth by the Devil.

The loss scenario is always phrased as "What if they were hit by a bus?"

Why do programmers fear busses?

Found an issue with my code where I was using a built in Win OS service, when our company has implemented its own custom service for that functionality for our different clients to use.

the iOS, and Android teams use our in-house service and I was wondering, should I take the extra development hit to implement the in-house solution, or should I just keep using the Win-OS built in one?

Reporting a bug to major library opensource projects (looking at you Google Angle) consists of 90% convincing them they actually have a problem in their stuff and they need to go thru the steps to reproduce it.

I've spent the last 2 hours trying to proof to some lowly QA person that I haven't just made a silly error, that if x64 and x86 build but arm64 gives `special` crash results, there is something wrong with their current arm64 configuration.

Before going in and making a modification to the base Data Access Layer of your app's framework to address an exception that has popped up, do an analysis of how much it has happened.

4 times within 2 secs of a full day of 42.7K requests, is probably something you can safely ignore.

Glad I looked before I started modifying deploying.

Do any of my fellow software engineers out there realize that they may have gotten really worked up and frustrated when the code won't behave the way you want it too because of their pet?

The indicator to me that I need to step away from the computer is when my dog gets up and slinks out of the room I'm working in as quietly and stealthily as he can to make sure he's free of the line of fire that is obviously coming!
