#Politics From #CNN: Former #Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro may be held in contempt of court if he doesn't turn over emails covered by the Presidential Records Act.

As one senior campaign adviser put it recently, they have been surprised by how many voters appear to put on “rose-colored glasses” when looking back on the Trump years – a reality that the campaign says they must alter by constantly reminding voters of what Trump stands for.

#Politics From Wisconsin State Journal: #Wisconsin governor Tony Evers signs bill creating new state districts that eliminate institutional gerrymandering that gave Republicans an unfair advantage for years.
#Politics From #CNN: #Utah passes a bill which says that they don't have to comply with federal law. Good luck with that.

#Politics #Trump This blog article is on Emptywheel ... I've been suspecting there might be some alignment between Alexander Smirnov, arrested for falsely telling the FBI that Joe #Biden took bribes from #Ukraine, and Rudy Giuliani's activities to create false evidence.
This article digs into the minutiae and finds some details that suggest I might be right.

#Politics So much winning! From #NYTimes: #Trump ordered to pay $355 million fine in civil fraud case, barred from serving in a "top role" in any New York company. His two sons are also barred for two years and have to pay fines.
“Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological,” the judge said.

The Republicans' #Biden impeachment inquiry is undercut by the arrest today of their informant for lying about it to the FBI. The indictment calls it all a "fabrication."

"The 37-page indictment alleges that Smirnov had been a confidential human source for the FBI since 2010 and "provided false derogatory information to the FBI" about both Bidens after Joe Biden became a candidate for president in 2020."
#Politics I can't stress how incredibly destabilizing that would be. As far as we know, no nation has done that -- not us, not China, and certainly not #Russia.
Every spacefaring nation abides by the Outer Space Treaty. To violate it in such a blatant manner would make Russia an international pariah in the space community. I think it would end the #ISS partnership, and it might cause China to rethink their space alliance with Russia.
I still think it's the hypersonic missile. We'll see. (2/2)
#Politics There's speculation on X that the "threat" may be that #Russia is planning to deploy nuclear weapons in orbit.
That would be a violation of the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, Article IV.
"States Parties to the Treaty undertake not to place in orbit around the earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction, install such weapons on celestial bodies, or station such weapons in outer space in any other manner." (1/x)
