8PM EDT: I am at a loss for words to meteorologically describe you 897mb pressure with 180 MPH max sustained winds and gusts 225 MPH. This is now the 2nd strongest hurricane ever recorded by pressure on this side of the world. The eye is TINY at nearly 3.8 miles wide. This hurricane is nearing the mathematical limit of what Earth's atmosphere can produce. Yes, there is a mathematical limit and we are nearing that.

The latest ten-day forecast for us in north Merritt Island. Thursday is up to 68 MPH / 103 KPH.

Here's the local police and fire for Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, Merritt Island, etc. They're reporting damage from a tornado in the area of SR-520/Banana River Drive.

Brevard County Sheriffs Office (BCSO) reporting a significant tornado just hit Cocoa Beach. One of the deputies said it's "at least an EF-2." Many businesses damaged as well as homes.

If you want to look it up on Google Maps, search 1775 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach. That's the Wells Fargo that lost its roof. The tornado started at the Resorts at Cocoa Beach and moved northwest. Many homes damaged on St. Croix Ave. behind the Publix.

Good morning from the of .

We're still here. Other than the Cocoa Beach tornado, I haven't heard of any significant damage in our area. The eyewall just passed through here so we're experiencing peak gusts.

Frame capture from yesterday evening reporting on the Cocoa Beach tornado. Had it continued, it would have gone right over our house in north Merritt Island. As it was, we still had a strong cell pass through, just no damage for us.

I've uploaded to YouTube Spectrum coverage yesterday afternoon of Milton's local impacts. The Cocoa Beach tornado coverage started at 5:52 PM.

@LnzyHou Ready to go. I was trained long ago as a first responder and disaster preparedness. We've had 60 MPH winds many times before. The forecast rain totals are 4"-6". Not that bad. No rain in tomorrow's forecast, so we have time to dry out a little bit.

@WordsmithFL We are reaching the point where an eyewall replacement cycle will commence, which may cause a temporary decrease in intensity.

Thank you.

@WordsmithFL

Good grief. Flooding has already begun in Satellite Beach. Looked above ankle-deep. Not sure what road. Guessing S. Patrick Drive.

@WordsmithFL

Conventional wisdom for a tornado seems counterintuitive in the face of a ten foot storm surge. ☹️

@LnzyHou Shaken but not stirred.

I think our little hamlet is through the worst. Cocoa Beach had a significant tornado but we're through the worst of the rain, at least in the forecast.

@WordsmithFL Obviously your warning was inadvertently released *just before* they flipped the Tornado switch.

😜

@WordsmithFL
That was probably the tornado that hit Wells Fargo.
Cocoa Beach mayor's house got hit also.
