From #News13: Tropical storm (likely to be named #Helene) projected to form later in the week, aiming for the Florida Panhandle.

The Merritt Island ten-day forecast from Weather.com. They seem to be a believer in nascent #Helene. Thursday shows a 93% chance of thunderstorms with 27 MPH winds, for a storm on the opposite side of the state. But it's early.
Projected track and intensity for nascent #Helene. Intensity as high as Category 3 for the Panhandle, meaning a major hurricane.
The latest model for nascent #Helene, courtesy of Mike's Weather Page on Facebook. 941 mb in the eye is very bad.
(For the record, I'm on the Atlantic coast near Cape Canaveral.)
The latest on nascent #Helene ... The forecast continues to worsen, now possibly a Category 4 for the Panhandle.
The final panel is the ten-day forecast for Merritt Island, where I live (as well as #NASA #KSC). The winds are now forecast as 29 MPH, higher than last night's 27 MPH.
The four-leaf panel model suggests this will be an event for almost all of Florida, catastrophic for some.

A catastropic drop in the #Helene millibar pressure forecast according to these models. Just in from Mike's Weather Page.
The #Helene wind gusts forecast for 1 PM EDT on Friday. The #SpaceCoast is looking at gusts in the 50s MPH. The Big Bend approaches 100 MPH.

Man, oh man. We were in Mexico Beach over this last winter and they were recovering nicely from Hurricane Michael that hit 5 years ago. Now, they will have this to contend with again. It's such a beautiful area of the Gulf. And the residents so resilient. Dang it.
