The truth about why someone doesn't write when they say they 'really do want to'.
It is such a risk to pour your best efforts into a manuscript & send it out there. You feel exposed. It is scary.
But, like they say, "Feel the fear & do it anyway."
Just be sure to learn from the best (get their how-to books or can read & analyze their structure, etc. ) and edit, edit, edit.
Hi!
Been away for almost 2 weeks visiting the grands in AZ. Hectic. But fun.
On the way back to Wilmington, I met a young man at the ATL airport & struck up a conversation.
The kid is fascinating. And - he speaks 5 languages, including Occitan!
My WIP takes place in Toulouse 1463 & they spoke Occitan. They still do, some.
He's agreed to help me with my research when needed.
Pretty cool, I think. 😀
Geeking out again today in the 1400s.
Modern French really hadn't evolved yet - in Toulouse, they spoke the Langue d'oc dialect of Occitan.
They spoke Occitan there until the 1950s. There are still street signs in both Occitan and French.
Saw this posted on another social media site.
What the bleeping hell is this shit?
Jesus on a lion - floating around in the sky - doing what? Checking on people?
And, of course, it's the white Jesus. The version that's probably 180 degrees away from what he probably looked like.
I can't. Just can't.
There are a lot of seriously delusional ppl out there, and that is terrifying.
Found this old mirror in my storage unit while moving.
Always thought I'd repurpose it.
Well, no time like the now.
It's got a whimsical shape, I think. Painting it with imaginary flowering vines. In progress.
So ya wanna be a writer???
Get used to lots of opinions & rejections.
Learning what to listen to is part of the acquired skills.
This is creepy & adorable at the same time.
Looks like something Jim Henson might have created.
I have three sons. I can't imagine any of them having to do what these young men did that day.
80 years ago. We owe them still.
For Wordy Wednesday -
This is an old favorite of mine. The premise is ridiculous - but he makes it work. Just go along for the fun ride. Garcia then followed up with 'Casual Rex'.
It's kind of a 'dino-noir'.
Throwback Thursday.
Can't believe this was 10 years ago!
Joanne Sinchuk & I announcing that we were the new co-chairs for SleuthFest 2015. (Florida Chapter of Mystery Writers of America's annual writers conference.)
We wound up running it for 4 years. Exhausting? Yes. But so much fun, too.
For Wordy Wednesday.
They left out a flamboyance of flamingos, but otherwise, a good list.
Don't think I'd want to go into war with the frogs, though. The gorillas? Sure.
