@VaKnow22 Given that your black dog lurked around in your life for so long...Have you ever done genetic testing to see if you have the genetic quirk on the MTHFR gene? That might explain some stuff...

@VaKnow22 This could be a game changer for you. It basically influences the metabolism of serotonin. And now we're at the end of my genetics knowledge. Methylated folate supplement is the key, but it should be added to your diet under supervision, particularly if you're on antidepressants.

@VaKnow22 A little more background: I suspected the MTHFR variant in our extended family because you could trace those of us who were often chronically melancholy alternating with depressed *independent of life circumstances*. Then when I took a CE class in psychopharmacology, the speaker talked about working with people with "treatment resistant depression."

@VaKnow22 Because her clients were indigenous poor, she just tried methylated folate rather than doing the more expensive genetic testing. She said if they came in happier 2 weeks later she felt almost 100% confident they had the variant. I believe there's an RX supplement but you can now find methylated folate OTC at least in the US.
