My dog, Mona, has learned 12 words/phrases so she can communicate with Fluent Pet programmable buttons. Her current buttons say: food, water, good morning, outside, go car, Momma, Delia, mail’s here, bedtime, blanket (which means she wants cuddles), Alexa lights on, and Alexa play Enya. Dog genius. This weekend when storms were moving through, she kept going over to say “water” “outside”, “water” “outside”, alternating between the buttons very deliberately. -

- I said “Yes, there’s water outside. It’s okay. ” And she looked up at me, paused, and then walked to the other room to say “blanket”. I think she was scared of the storm and didn’t know how to tell me what was wrong. Once I put her on my lap, she settled down again.

@TheRealDelia Wow. How long did it take to teach her all that? What breed is she?

@BillieBun She’s a Scottish terrier.

She learned really quickly, actually. She only started using them in February. We’ve added words each week or two as she masters them.

Next I want to add “walk,” “ball,” “go patio,” and “go to work.” She already knows these words, she just hasn’t had buttons for them yet.

@BillieBun It really is. She knows what she wants, and she “talks” a lot.

When we start talking about food we’re going to buy at the grocery store, she will go over and push “Momma” “Delia” “go car”. She knows what we’re talking about even if we never say anything about leaving the house or use the word “car”. This has happened more than once, so it wasn’t a fluke. She pays attention to our conversation and knows what is going to happen.
