@mcfate Saw a quote from Michael Harriot earlier that seems appropriate (especially for a civil case):
"In all that 'deadly, violent, chaos' that necessitated an AR-15 for 'self-defense'...
The only casualties in the Kenosha 'unrest' were the people shot by Kyle Rittenhouse."

@bit To steal a phrase I saw earlier, it's currently on a "MetaPause" for us plebians, while the elite take the opportunity to solidify their cyber presence to ensure domination for the next century.
@Old_Dave @mcfate
Perhaps I didn't communicate my point - I'm not saying at all that the verdict was incorrect. That's not my place, as I wasn't part of the jury, and wasn't in the courtroom.
What I'm saying is, you can't fault the jury, without knowing what information they were provided (which is very different than what the media spoonfeeds the public), or the lawyer for doing their job, etc.
Hence why I said.... the outcome was not surprising.
@mcfate Jury's are gonna jury, lawyer's are gonna lawyer, and politicians are gonna write poorly structured legislation. This wasn't one point of failure on the jury, judge, or prosecutor's part. It was (as w/ so many things) a combination of multiple variables that resulted in an outcome that was honestly... not surprising.
The fact that a black, brown, or anyone other than white defendant would have been locked up after a poorly argued defense by a public defender is another issue entirely.
With all the other shit going on today....
Here's your Friday Zen moment. May you find a love that looks at you, like Bruce looks at Chuck.
At least the Expanse season 6 kicks off next month!!
@th3j35t3r The bulk of the GQP isn't even pretending anymore, because they know there'll be little to no consequences. Nothing from 1/6 (for politicians - the 'little people' don't count, after all), nothing from the Big Lie. They're just running out the clock until their gerrymandered maps give them control during the midterms. The Dems inability to pass any form of the Voting Act is going to bite them in the arse - as usual.
@lineofstarshine ...I double-dog dare you!! :D
@Alt_Human As a Catholic, I was waiting to see what the council of American Bishops decided. I'm thankful that they didn't endorse this document as a national policy. BUT - the fact they have overwhelmingly voted to approve the document is pretty much the last straw for me. This is a blatant attempt to influence the political system of a nation state.
Seems like they tried stuff like this during the Crusades and Inquisition, and I don't see my Christ & Savior approving of this at all.
Coming up on the end of event day and I always start to feel like this, rolling into the final debrief...
Ministry - Search and Destroy
@WhoopassGirl So true. Even when one of the kiddo's ended up with a breakthrough infection she bounced back super quick, isolated in her room, and no-one else in our house got sick.
I was joking with my boss a couple of weeks ago and said that at this point, I'm isolating to protect those too stupid to know better.
I don't think I'm joking anymore.
@northernbassist My GMail got so bad, I finally had to create a new filter:
Matches words: is:spam
Do this: Delete it
That dumps spam straight into the trash - I usually don't like trusting Google's spam algorithm like that, but as you said, the volume has gotten out of control. Even replying with a spoofed "Unable to deliver message" doesn't work anymore.
@JGNWYRK I rarely touch LI at this point. So tired of getting connect requests "to expand my veteran network," that immediately result in inMails advertising their services as a new financial advisor, salesperson, etc. It's right up there with Twitter for me.
@JGNWYRK Nope, you should absolutely elevate it to the hiring manager (if known), or to the recruiter's manager.
Public service announcement: If you wait until less than 24-hours to withdraw from a full-loop interview that I got you scheduled for, don't bother including a line like "I hope to work with you and XYZ in the future." 'Cause yeah, we damn sure make a note about that in our applicant tracking system.
And if you withdraw less than 2 hours before kickoff, we've got a special list for you, that get's shared across our network.
@evistre I shall title my submission....
"This country's turning into a dumpster fire!"
@TomeReader Yeah, prolly isn't gonna happen. "Justice" in this country means only the poor or undesirable get locked up. The rich (especially rich & white) or politically connected folk tie things up in court until at worse they strike a plea deal on a drastically reduced charge, do a few hours of community service (usually while playing golf or handball, etc.), and laugh about the consequences the plebes must face.
Democracy? All are created equal? Yeah, that's complete B.S.
I like alternative/hard rock & just about anything except country. Interested in books & gaming.
