Matt Gaetz finally let Kevin McCarthy become Speaker of the House on the 15th vote.

That's a special number for Gaetz. It's the same age as his girlfriend.

Only a MAGA nut could lose 14 times in a row and then call his eventual victory by one lousy vote a "mandate" and the "will of the people."

Turns out, Republicans CAN win an election, if they rerun it 15 times.

Matt Gaetz handed McCarthy his 14th defeat.

No matter who ends up Speaker, Gaetz is screwed. He'll be persona non grata with Republicans in the House.

And he KNOWS it.

He's okay with that. He's grinning about it.

That means he's up to something. He's not planning on staying in Congress. He's going to run for something where he doesn't need the GOP. But he DOES need the people who elected him to do EXACTLY this sort of grandstanding.

I bet he's going to run for Governor of Florida

I detest Gaetz, but I will savor the seething look on Kevin McCarthy's face forever.

I wonder if Kevin McCarthy is sick of all the winning yet?

I mean, if he wins any more, he's going be burying an ex wife on a golf course by tomorrow afternoon.

Find 6 Republicans and offer them whatever they want, committee memberships, committee chairs, whatever pork they want for their district. Name a battleship after them, I don't care, and elect Hakeem Jeffries Speaker of the House.

I'm going to withhold judgement on who should be Speaker until we hear from Bristol Palin on the matter.

Whenever I see Kevin McCarthy's face, I think of those laxative commercials where the actor is holding his stomach like he's got a large goat cheese pizza backed up and you realize that's pretty much the same expression James Woods makes in every movie he's ever been in.

Contrary to how it may appear, I'm really not enjoying the current Republican shitshow.

It's bad for the country.

It's bad for the world.

It's bad for us as the people who live here.

And it's bad for democracy.

And as bad as it is, eventually these assholes will sort themselves out and then it will get even WORSE.

The fact that the news media, any news media, can present this shit as if it's some sort of surprising new information is a measure of just how much the modern Press has utterly failed civilization.

If state governors have enough cash on hand that they can pay to transport immigrants halfway across the country as a political stunt, they can damn well pony up in the middle of an airline "meltdown" and get stranded Americans home.

Mobilize the Air National Guard, if that's what it takes, but get it done.

Idea: A Federal Law that mandates any airline that fails to meet its contracted obligation in a prompt and efficient manner, must provide quality food, lodging, and entertainment for all stranded passengers AT THE CEO'S HOUSE AT HIS/HER PERSONAL EXPENSE.
