A friend made a great observation on America having a national divorce. We should do it, plan it out, make it happen.

This is because if we do it, people will confront all the harsh realities of the country breaking up and be forced to ask very hard questions.

Which, ironically, would mean it would be less likely to happen.

It's 2026, after a contentious election, Dems sweep the House and Senate. Two years of Trump and his horrific actions made the "we're not them" strategy viable for the year.

The news media stars are suddenly tense and nervous or clearly medicated. All the things they said about the protests, the shooting of civilians, the economic crash, the diseases.

And then, plodding along, the Hollow Men and Women, they repeat their talking points.

@TLP32 This one isn't too threatening - the Canadian strain of Bird flu that might be human transmissable does. Because we've now got two different human-infecting strains. A breakthrough seems more likely if we've got that kind of breach of the species barrier.

Someone like RFK is going to make that worse.

I like Rep. Wiley Nickel's idea of a shadow cabinet.

@cylon_dxd Less than six months. DOGE is a playground for two annoying techbros that Trump sees as rivals.

I push my brain to live in the political moment. What is in the past is not part of this moment; need to understand history, but not relive it. News and pundits keep pushing "what could happen: Be afraid". I am working to just be here.

OK folks in the especially would anyone be interested in a meetup?

I am one of the seven guys in America who has no tattoos, no beard, and no podcast.

@AskTheDevil also each choice is a weakness. For instance, Gaetz, who clearly has more skeletons in his closet - and if the R's approve him can easily become an albatross. Or Tulsi and the fact IntServices will despise her.

Don't use his tools, necessarily, but use his choices.

Remember, whatever awful thing Trump does ask how you can use it as a tool to defeat him and his cronies. Action his choices.

It was NEVER about Harris's experience.
A Russian mole for Director of National Intelligence
An investigated pedophile for Attorney General
A Fox show news host for Secretary of Defense
A dog and goat murder enthusiast who lied about meeting a foreign head of state as head of Homeland Security
A man who said Palestinians don't exist as the Ambassador to Israel

The next 2-4 years are going to be painful lessons in the value of good project management and how to take advantage of bad project management.

So I want you to imagine another triple hurricane hits next year, worse than what we had this time. Multiple states in disaster situations.

How well will our news media report something that may "look bad for Trump"?

@feloneouscat also we are not in a state to deal with more chaos - climate included. Florida got hit with 3 hurricanes. Bird flu is percolating. There's global stability issues.

If anything goes truly off the rails the news IS NOT READY TO HELP.

I've read a lot of analysis of how the Democrats lost, and a big part that is still not mentioned enough is our media ecosystem. Even when it is mentioned, it's not enough.

We have a commercialized, billionaire-owned media ecosystem that attracted many a syncophant. That is a huge battle and requires everyone engaged.
