My gf is having an ocular migraine. She had one at work yesterday. I had to figure out what she was having by looking up her symptoms she described. Described as a half-moon that starts in the middle as moves to the peripheral before going away, similar to this.

@StephanieResists
Ugh that sounds terrible. Hope she gets relief soon

@WeaselToo I don't understand them or why she's having them other than the increased stress level lately, but they're bizarre because she isn't really having any pain with it, just some pressure she says. It mostly just an inability to see correctly until it's over.

@StephanieResists
I’m sure the first time it happened she must have freaked out wondering what was going on. Glad it’s not painful at least

@WeaselToo Yes, she did. JUst like yesterday, it hit while she was at work (Hotel GM) and she immediately called me. She can't come home because she can't drive, so it's stressful.

@StephanieResists very similar to what I've had since age 13. It starts like a flash, as if I looked at a lightbulb then looked away. But the flash slowly grows to consume the whole left side of my vision. When it goes out of range the headache begins.

They have become milder and less frequent each year.

@kerrywth That sounds about the same. As soon as she sees the vision thing start, she quickly takes something for it.

@StephanieResists I've spent a lifetime trying to figure out causation... while docs love to say it's this or that or stress, I've never noticed any correlation. Charting them by time of the month may help predict them.

@badkoukla No she hasn't. Getting her to a Dr. is a feat, mostly because of her ins. situation.

@StephanieResists she may want to. It might be a sign of something happening in her retina, could be as bad as a retinal tear.

@StephanieResists I get ocular and retinal migraines and it's awful. I lose my vision on one eye, looks like satellite TV when the signal is sketchy. I'm sorry she's dealing with this.

@VenomousHeroine @StephanieResists I usually get just regular migraines. The one time I got an ocular migraine, it looked like TV snow in my right eye, black and white and staticky. Never did find out what caused it, and have only had a few ordinary migraines since. Hope your GF feels better soon!

@HaikuHedgehog @VenomousHeroine thank you. I've only had one just one time and it was like a kaleidoscope but short-lived.
