@KodoAndSangha the article doesn't say anything about them being used for anti-abortion enforcement measures, only that they're sharing plates with other states for law enforcement-- a common thing.

The possibility isn’t so far fetched given how backward things legislatively have become….with laws prosecuting people that go out of state to get an abortion.
They can certainly try but requests for information aren't sent blindly, there's a chain of custody that specifically specifies what is being sought and for what investigation. If they wish to not help those prosecutions selectively, fine.
But a blanket proposal to stop working with other states law enforcement agencies would do far more harm then good as @EileenKCarpenter 's comment also alluded to. Cutting off your nose to spite your face if you will.

Should an antiabortion state request information from another state about where a car has traveled, the appropriate thing to do is to examine the warrant to determine if it is justified. Many states are passing laws that they won't cooperate with enforcement of antiabortion statutes and court awards. They already have been doing something similar in how they handle immigration enforcement fishing expeditions.
