We are centered around Hashtags, and Lists. The Firehose can be overwhelming, and you can un-pin it, and return to it at anytime.
You can create a column with multiple Hashtags.
You can create a List with multiple people in it.

Have you tried using the translation feature in the upper right corner of Counter Social? I am curious if that would offer a better experience.
Has NOT worked for me in a long time. I don't know why.
