Eons ago when I had a blog I used to do One Good Thing Wednesday urging people to comment with one good thing, no matter how small, that had happened in their life since Sunday.
I'm bringing it here.
Mine- I actually gave some new people ideas for living with chronic pain.
Now it's your turn.
Yesterday I had an excellent conversation with the cashier at the grocery store, who will be working tomorrow, and left her laughing.
Always leave them laughing.
Oh. Here's my one good thing for Wednesday.
The pipes didn't freeze and we kept power.
Your turn.
@Shelter I volunteered to host Thanksgiving this year and invited all the aging relatives. #OneGoodThingWednesday
They will be deeply appreciative of that.
❤
@Shelter I’m housing my first Section 8 tenant, this week.
Thank you so much.
i love this.
i found out that my name is one of the like 10 words that my next door neighbor's 1-y/o can say and my heart exploded.
To a brand new person, i'm apparently right up there with juice and dogs in terms of noteworthiness and my existence has never felt so valid.
That just put a lump in my throat.
You're a BFD.
@Shelter ❤️ ❤️ i'm putting it on my résumé.
Well duh. ❤
@Shelter, at work we have a tech coming in to retrain us (fully & properly) on some instruments and I'm thrilled because we've just been pushing buttons and 🤞for good data.
Oh that's got to be a huge relief.
Picturing confetti falling when the tech walks in.
And a kazoo orchestra.
I made positive suggestions to my boss who is suffering shoulder issues. Hoping they will take them seriously.
I hope so too. 🤞🏼
@Shelter Sitting in the oral surgeon’s office, waiting for my 20 y.o. son’s wisdom teeth to be pulled. He’s coming home with me for the next few days so I can dote on him.
Ok, wait, I’m describing the benefits I’m getting. What a great kid he is.
(BTW, I’d love to hear your ideas about living with chronic pain if you’re so inclined.)
@Shelter I practiced deep listening to a friend who was thinking there wasn't any good reason to remain on this plane of existence.
🫂
@Shelter I found my passport! I was really starting to sweat it for a minute there. #OneGoodThingWednesday
@CheekyGinger
That's excellent! Getting a replacement can be a nightmare.
@Shelter And I have to travel for work in three weeks 😬
@CheekyGinger
Emergency replacement is an even bigger nightmare.
Well done!
@Shelter Windows are tricky.
@CheekyGinger
I did in fact call it a little fuck while shoving it back into alignment.

Got my bivalent booster and flu shot yesterday and with the exception of an extremely sore shoulder, I've so far had none of the common side effects (knock on wood).
@razorbunz Woohoo!
@Shelter my husband came home from a bone marrow transplant yesterday.
@Shelter so, based on that, you've worked retail/customer service right?
20 years in retail.
@Shelter you can always tell. Retail, manual labour and the requisite stint in a McDonalds.
@Camerondotca
I most often ended up in management at some level and sighed and did it because money.
This Walmart shooting is highly upsetting to me. All are, but-
Thinking about the staff in the break room.
Took my husband to get his surgical stitches out on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I taught myself another knitting technique. So, two good things. 😂
Wonderful!
@Shelter i only just saw this and its now thursday but i'll do it anyway as its such a good idea. i met a dear autistic friend for a cuppa and we had a wonderful conversation where we both completely understood each other and could be our real selves.
❤❤❤
@Shelter I taught my son to never fry bacon naked.
@Shelter
#OneGoodThingWednesday 🤔 lemme think
Household stuff mostly, but I did do a toot about donating blood 🩸
You can find it under #GiveBloodGiveLife 🩸
I have a great doctor. She is very proactive and keeps it real.
@IrisDallen
I'm in rural NC and don't even have a PCP.
I'm really glad you have a doctor who can care for you.
@Shelter Wow. I can't even imagine. I will keep you in my prayers. Even though I have an excellent doctor, I still think our so-called health care system sux. My insurance sux. I wish I lived in Europe.
I advised some people who were having problems with financial decisions.
Took a lot of stress off them.
That's awesome!
I'm just seeing this.
My one good thing for this week was feeding one of my son's friends and sending him home with more food and a fresh baked loaf of bread.
This one may not count again since I do this once a week for him: He comes over to do laundry and get a decent meal, he provides movies or Amazon TV series, I send him home with leftovers. We're between series so we're doing a re-watch of the LOTR movies, 1 each week. Next week is RotK & we finished The Hobbit before that.
@Tarnagh
It absolutely counts.
❤️
@Shelter
Since last Sunday?
I was invited to my next belt level test in karate, I dropped off n eggnog jello bundt cake and a box of candied, tequila walnuts to my elderly neighbors, and made 2 custom fit vests for a friend of mine who has a hard time finding clothes that fit.
It's been a busy week.
@Medussas_Fury @Shelter eggnog jello bundt cake?
@MississippiGoneCoastal @Shelter
Yes, lol. I love making jello bundt cakes, usually out of cocktails, but during the holiday season I add spiked eggnog to my repertoire,,
@Shelter --There is always some form of criticism rolling around re social media. I'm not a fan of conformity for those seeking to be in the popular crowd. But I'm all about raising up those who are here and have taken their own path, despite the inherent risks. I greatly enjoy and applaud those who seek to be their own person.
@Shelter I made a soup and it was really tasty.
I love soup.
Recipe please?
@Shelter 😁 caramelize 1/2 a diced onion in about 1/4 stick of butter + cayenne. toss into a pot of half veg stock w parsley, garlic, salt till the onions are almost transparent, add 🐓 of choice and a cup of diced 🥕. Simmer till 🥕 are mostly soft, then + in celery (my leaves had gone soft but I dice up the whole stalk) Use your 🐓 cooking savvy to finish the chicken. Talk to it while it simmers, it's like a spice. Slip bay leaf in when its not looking.
I then add pre-made rice to make it happy.
@Shelter all amounts are to your preference. Except the carrots. Unless you love them, it gets a bit sweet.
@Coffee_and_Salt
I got 16 to eat carrots in soup by buying bags of matchstick carrots.
I love carrots.
@Shelter then that's perfect! its a cost effective way to stretch.
That sounds excellent.
Thank you.
@Shelter I finished work on my pickup I started before the big freeze. Then I went to an in-person meditation meeting this evening.
@Vozy Excellent!
Mine for this week -
Last night I figured out why my bedroom was so bitter cold.
One of the tilt-in windows, while locked, had somehow tilted in leaving about a half an inch crack open for cold air to flood in.
It's fixed now, and I didn't shiver all night for a change.
