@XSGeek lol, I don't have a good answer for that one that isn't meta. They had to settle somewhere for the plot to work, and building space stations takes too much time and resources.
@Stottie Hook your eyeballs up to. the firehose until you see something you like. Follow some people. Talk to them about stuff.
There's a user guide here: https://counter.social/userguide.pdf
@CoSoTips has a feed of peoples' tips for getting the most out of CoSo.
Just wow.. I went to share #coso on my Facebook page to let my friends and family know I would be over here from now on and Facebook LITERALLY blocks the website from being posted and just says "Access Denied". Zuck is scared of us y'all 😆
Have you seen this happen @th3j35t3r ?
If a large incident occurs, and you're stuck somewhere, need help, (AND ONE OF US IS AVAILABLE - Not guaranteed)
Type the Hashtag #CoSoMayday and one of us will try to assist you with public safety, preparedness advice, or connection to local resources.
@Cymru Eh, you have to start somewhere. But if it is a con, it's a very long and difficult one. If I'm wrong then the joke's on me and I'll own that.
@Cymru I mean... the cynical view is that a Twitter-like website is a phenomenal opportunity to collect data about people. Their profiles, who they follow, what they say, etc. is a goldmine of information. So I was skeptical at first. But I've watched what J does for a couple years now, and it looks more like a labor of love than an op. Why bother with CoSoRealms for an op?
@XSGeek That didn't jump out at me but I remember it now that you brought it up. I guess I wrote it off as hubris. "Clearly" it must have been intended for Earth. Everywhere else is empty. 🤷♂️
@KatieWDee Checked him out, and even talked to him a couple times. That's more than I can say for Zuck, Dorsey or Musk.
@IrelandTorin Yeah, Windows is a tradeoff for sure. I'd prefer not to have ads built into the OS and have it not call home, but I also want to play games and it's still by far the easiest option. So I have a separate machine for it that I don't use for anything else. OSX laptop for personal stuff outside of work, and a mix of all three for work.
@SophosLabs Where's the "ransomware threat actors are scum" option?
@kel It really shines a light on how processed the standard Twitter feed is.
On twitter I have >41K blocks and ~3K follows (direct & lists).
That seems to imply the noise to signal ratio is *worse* than 10:1.
I use blocking intensively to drive the algo to filter my feed for me.
How does #CS keep the trolling down beyond the desirable (IMO) blocking of bad actor nation states engaged in major disinfo campaigns without hiring tons of humans to moderate?
@IrelandTorin I ran Gentoo for many, many years but it's almost all Ubuntu now because that's what I use at work. There's only so much I can keep in my head at the same time. I'm running Win 10 right now on my gaming rig but I liked 7 better. Haven't tried 11 yet but I probably will upgrade at some point. Really liking Monterey on my macs so far.
@Winchester99 I'm curious about the same thing, particularly as the site scales up. No matter how good he is, there's a point where it will get to be too much work for J to do alone.
