@AskTheDevil There are also the non-compete contracts that limit where you can go.
For me, it is more being blamed by the people really at fault. But pointing it out would be insubordination (effectively quitting.)

@S_r_stone Note: In the US at least, non-compete agreements are typically unlawful or unenforceable, except in a couple of states. But most people don't know that, and are intimidated by them.
@AskTheDevil The result is the same when potential employers ask and effectively eliminate from consideration if you have one.
They are enforceable with a few exceptions where I am.
